Benjamin "Ben" Hubbard

Benjamin Hartwell Hubbard was born on May 25, 1934 in Halifax County, Nathalie, Virginia to the late Edward Lee Hubbard and Mary Ellen Price Hubbard. He fought a good fight until he departed this life on June 6, 2023, at University Maryland Hospital at 11:00 p.m. and went home to be with the Lord. He is known as “Ben” by his family, friends, and neighbors. He was kind, generous and gladly shared his possessions with others. He received his education in the Shiloh Public School System, Nathalie, Virginia. Ben was baptized at a very young age and became a member and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Nathalie, Virginia, until moving to Baltimore Maryland to live with family. Ben joined the First Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a faithful member. He remained active, strong in mind, will and faithful until the time of his passing. He enjoyed working as a custodian for many years. Ben liked cleaning and cooking until his health failed and was not able to continue working. He enjoyed driving and would take seniors to the doctors, grocery stores and other errands as needed, even if he didn’t feel up to it. He made many friends and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He took pleasure in watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. He would say “they are going to win and I just know that”. Ben is preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie May Hubbard and Nancy Cornelia Hubbard Snowden; three brothers, James Richard Hubbard, George Edward Hubbard, and Willie Carol Hubbard, Sr.; wife, Corrine Mosely Hubbard; and one nephew, Jordan Hubbard. He leaves to cherish his memory: two brothers, Joe Allen (Mildred) Hubbard, Baltimore, Maryland and John Lee Hubbard, Nathalie, Virginia; five nieces, Laura Richardson, Barbara Burrell, Ellen Womack, Jackie Wilkes, Elizabeth Pannell; six nephews, James (Jimmy ) Snowden, Charles (Bra) Hubbard, Jerry Hubbard, Willie (Skeeter) Carol Hubbard, Jr., Jeffrey Hubbard, Frank (Buck) Hubbard; one step-son: David Mosely; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Ben was loving, loyal and devoted to his girlfriend, Earlene Bryan. He enjoyed the times they shared together for many years until his passing. Ben had a special relationship with his devoted nieces, Laura, Barbara, and Elizabeth and he will be deeply missed.
