Barbara Ann Stone

Barbara Ann Stone, daughter of the late Cornelius and Phoebe Lois Stone, was born on May 10th , 1936 in DanvilleVirginia. She separated this life at Gilchrist Hospital Care on June 23, 2011 after a brief illness. Religious Training Barbara began her religious training under her grandfather, Reverend Charlie Stone, in Danville, Virginia. At an early age Barbara attended in Cherry Hill located in Baltimore, Maryland. Later she joined Simmons Memorial Baptist Church located on Cumberland and Pennsylvania in Baltimore, Maryland. She served there faithfully for more then twenty years under the religious tutelage of Reverend William King. Barbara served on the hospitality committee and lovingly welcome visitors each Sunday In the year 2000, Barbara moved her membership to Village Baptist Church on South Hilton Street in Baltimore, Maryland, where Reverend Zollie Bagby continued giving her a string spiritual foundation. In 2010, Barbara knew that her health was failing and generously donated the Stone Family house to Village Baptist Church. Education Barbara began her elementary education in Evansville, Virginia and transferred to Cherry Hill Elementary when the family moved to Baltimore. After Junior High School, Barbara enrolled at Frederick Douglas High and graduate in 1955. She was very active in the academic which led her to become the Valedictorian upon graduation. Barbara's love for children led her to matriculate at Coppin Teachers College, where she graduated at the top of her class in 1959. Graduate Studies at thirty years of device, Barbara retired to pursue her own personal endeavors Personal Endeavors in the 1960s, Barbara, her Sister Jacquin, and other friends travel abroad to discover the diversity of others cultures. The Caribbean Islands were her favorite place of relation and enjoyment. Barbara had a strong desire to give to the community. She took young people bowling at Shake and Bake on Pennsylvania Avenue, under the direction of the famous football player Lenny Moore. She packaged and distributed food at the Food Bank on Garrison Boulevard in Baltimore City. Lastly, her favorite act of kindness was working in the thrift shop of The Good Samaritan Hospital. Also. Barbara loved going to the basketball games, the casinos, bowling and reading mysteries which kept her busy many evenings. Family Barbara's sister Loretta Tracy, preceded her in death in March of 2006. She leaves to cherish her memories and her sisters: Jacquin Elizabeth McNeill, Valeria Anita Stone McIntyre and Claudette Torbit. Eight nieces and nephews: Deborah Denise Jones, Marie Tracy, Kenya Karami McIntyre , Jerry R. Torbit, II William Benjamin McIntyre, II, Janier Marvin Tracy Jr. and Terrance Tracy and a host of great nieces and nephews and many friends at Phoenix Rising.
