Barbara Morgan Parham

God’s good and faithful servant, Barbara Ann Morgan Parham, left us too soon on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 after an arduous battle with Congestive Heart Failure. Her playful kindness and supportive smile will always remain with those who were blessed to know her. No one enjoyed jokes and pranks as much as she did (even if they were at her expense.) Her laugh and personality was contagious. She would often greet acquaintances with: “hey girl”, leaving you to wonder if she remembered the individual’s name. The Lord knew her best and called her home to receive her promised inheritance and to be reunited with her beloved son and mother. Barbara Ann Morgan was born September 27, 1949 in Dinwiddie County to the late Adell Morgan. She is preceded in death by her son Christopher Ray Parham. She graduated from James Solomon Russell High School in Lawrenceville, Virginia. She received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from J. Sargent Reynolds Community College. Barbara was employed as a Maintenance Administrator at Verizon for over 20 years. After retiring from Verizon, she continued making her contribution to society by working at Home Care By Professionals, Inc. as a Service Facilitator and Supervisor of companion and person care aides. At an early age,Barbara accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Dinwiddie,Virginia. After relocating to Richmond, Virginia, Barbara joined Cedar Street Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher and served on numerous committees and organizations. The Lord then called her to Unity Baptist Church where she was a founding member. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and supported the church and pastor in any way she could. She served as Chairperson of the Board of Deacons, Superintendent of the Church School, choir member and on many other auxiliaries. She also served in the Women’s Division of the Tuckahoe Baptist Association. Barbara enjoyed baking and trying new recipes, a hobby her family and friends fully supported and benefited from. She also enjoyed planning weddings and family gatherings, and always inserted extra beauty, inside and out, to the events she planned. Barbara Morgan became Barbara Parham in 1969 when she married the love of her life, Alex (Bobby) Randolph Parham, who stood by her side and held her hand and heart throughout their lives and throughout her illness. Barbara and Bobby were blessed with two precious sons for whom they provided an upbringing full of love and blessings. Barbara lived a fill life complete with God, family, friends, travel, food, laughter and love. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband of forty-six years, Alex "Bobby”Randolph Parham of Richmond, VA; a loving son, Derrick Randolph Parham (Michelle) of Richmond, VA.; three grandchildren, Christopher Ray Parham, Jr., Christina Ford, and Derrick Christopher Ellis Parham, all of Richmond, VA.;four sisters-in-law, Rachel Cole(Moses) of New York,NY,Nancy Abdullah(Wali) of McKenney,VA,Gwen Chancellor(Jay) of Pittsburgh,PA,Bonita Anderson(Randall) of Chesapeake,VA;two brothers-in-law, Chester Parham(Cynthia)of Chesapeake,VA,Luther (Jerry) Parham of DeWitt,VA;a devoted cousin and caregiver,Reagenia A. Tydings of Richmond, VA, a dedicated pastor and friend,Rev. Barbara J. Wynn, of Glen Allen, VA., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (who were like sisters), family (biological & church) and friends who loved her dearly. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
