Barbara Ann English

BARBARA ANN ENGLISH was born January 21, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her wings on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband at the MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. .'Barn” or “Barb”, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was the first child of the late William Albert Lewis, Jr. and the late Jean Elizabeth Williams Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronald Lewis. At an early age Barbara joined Grace Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill, Maryland. Although she was not currently a part of a local church assembly, it was evident that Barbara loved the Lord. She always stateshe trusted God and believed He made no mistake! Barbara received her former education from the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Edmondson High School in 1967. After graduation she became gainfully employed by Social Security Administration. Later in life she worked several jobs, First National Bank of Maryland, Locke Insulators, Bank of America, Federal Reserve Bank and John Hopkins University from which she retired in 2016. Barbara was a hard worker and dedicated employee in all her positions. She took great joy and pride in her work. Due to her great personality and love for people, she made lasting friends and relationships. On May 25, 2012, she married her soulmate Kenneth English. She was previously married to the late Harold Parker and from this union Tejon Parker, the joy of her life, was born. She was also blessed with an adopted son Michael Brown. Barbara loved and adored her blended family. Barbara had several hobbies she enjoyed which included cooking, family gatherings and grocery shopping. Her favorite places to shop were Walmart, Aldi and Harvest Fair! Thanksgiving dinners and cookouts were always at her home. She always prepared enough so everyone could have a carry-out. On Sundays she always prepared meals, especially for her brother-in-law, her sister and the late Uncle James. She was a great cook. Her potato salad, pig feet and seafood salad were the bomb. Barbara had the biggest heart and displayed kindness and concern for others. Her resilience was unmatched, from understanding adversity to bouncing back from difficult life events. Not a day would go by without her showing consideration for the needs of her family and others. Barbara was an amazing friend. Once a year her longtime friends would take a girl’s trip. Her traveling sister/friends were (the late Carolyn Livingston - 63 years), Elizabeth Galloway and Mary Hutchins - 50 years. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her precious memory: a loving husband, Kenneth English; son, Tejon Parker(Tiffany); adopted son, Michael Brown; grandchildren, Tejon Jr. and Jayden; great-grandchild, Tyaire; sister, Patricia Ball; nieces, Shontelle and Shanelle; nephews, Theodore Jr., Ronald Jr. and Tavon; great-nephews, Marquis and Myles; brother-in-law, Stanley English; special aunt, LaDoris Lewis; devoted friends, Mary Hutchins and Elizabeth Galloway; and a host of extended family members and friends.
