Anna Ruth Grimes

Anna Ruth Robinson Grimes, was born to Hazel Bernice Brownlow Robinson and Willie Robinson on May 2, 1924 in Fort Wachuka, AZ and raised in Bronx, NY before relocating to Troy, NY. She departed this life on January 30, 2007. Anna was educated in the Troy, NY public school system where she met Hiram Talmadge Grimes at Troy High School in the late 1930’s. Anna and Hiram wee married for 40 years and out of this union entered James, Pamela, Betty Ann and Marlene. She was loyal to her family and friends who were the heart of her years. She was a dedicated mother, a stable friend and her wistfulness will forever be preserved.Anna entered her married life devoted in the interests of her children, where she served PTA president of School #5, in the city of Troy, NY. She also made sure that her offspring spent Sunday mornings in church to uplift her unbroken faith in God.Anna was loyal member of the Ladies Auxiliary, the Toppers Social Club, an eager partner of the Toppers Bowling League and an infinite associate member of the Fifth Avenue, AME Zion Methodist Church family-also in Troy, NY.Anna’s employment career was dedicated to the management, service and welfare of Troy’s residents. One of her earlier positions was as a sales clerk at Denby’s Department Store, downtown Troy, in the early 1960’s. She was also a clerk for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, Troy Housing Authority at Taylor’s Apartments, a receptionist/clerk at the Renssealaer County Department of Social Services and a board member of TRIP Housing Authority in the 1970’s and 1980’s. In these surroundings, Anna captured the people of Troy through her friendships and dedication to her work. Everyone she knew admired her and she was a kind person with a sensitive smile.Anna leaves a heritage to her offspring: James, Pamela, Betty Ann and Marlene; grandchildren, Tina, Damian, Renje, Shannon, James, Stacey, Scott, Matthew, Tonya, Shonda; great-grandmother to Andre, Hilan, Sha Mara; sister to Chicora Lee and the late Naudain Jones; granddaughter-in-law Heather cousin to Lorraine Fitch; goddaughter June Allison and a host of nieces, nephews and her enduring close friends.God has opened a dwelling for Anna’s entrance and she will be forever encircleby His armor. He that keepeth thee will not slumber.- Amen
