Andrew Aristotle “Billy” Booker, 60, of Richmond, Virginia passed away to God’s Golden Throne on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Trinity Mission skilled nursing facility in Farmville, VA. Billy was born April 23, 1952 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Ida Justine Wood and Henry Comer. Billy was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert James; grandmother, Florence Wood; father-in-law, Floyd Parris, Sr.,; uncle, Andrew Aristotle Wood and his wife, Mildred; aunts, Constance Evans, Joan Dungee (Leon) and Florencee Wickham; one stepbrother, Theodore (Jimmy); James (Dorothy; brothers-in-law, Floyd Parris, Jr. and Gregory Crump; aunts, Eva Barnes, Ida Scales and Louise Wood; great-uncle, Eli Wood, cousins, other relatives and friends. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1970. He was a member of the High-Y, Boys Athletic Association, Student Council and Red Cross. He was also Homeroom President. Billy attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 1970-1972. .On August 4, 1976, he married Betty Louvinia Parris in Richmond and from their union were blessed with one son, Lamar. Billy trained in building rehabilitation and was a member of the Homebuilders Association in the early 1970s. Billy was intelligent, communicative, creative, energetic, artistic, poetic, and a lover of God and joyous in Jesus Christ, the Risen and Living Saviour. Billy loved being a stay-at-home dad; “Billy Bam” loved living life to the fullest with faith and hope through good times and through difficult times. For a brief time in 1976, he served in the United States Army, graduated basic training in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. He was formerly employed by MCV as a patient transporter. He was an avid reader and writer. His writing speciality was poetry. Billy loved to share his opinions and was always concerned about the state of the Black Man in America. He was an adventurer and a free spirit. He loved going to the movie throughout his entire life. Billy enjoyed family, friends, good food, fish on Fridays, sports, sherbert ice cream, hot coffee, and a great conversation. He loved to cry “tears of Joy”. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted ex-wife and friend, Betty Booker; son, Lamar Booker (Shanika); daughter, Andrea Abrams and her mother Anita; grandchild, Lamar Booker, Jr; brother, Anthony Booker; three sisters, Joslyn Ford, Joyce Johnson (Jerome), and Dr. June Robinson; mother-in-law, Phyllis Parris; three sisters-in-law, Geneva Sharpe (Earl), Vera Drew (Sherman) and Alice Jones (Richard); brother-in-law, Christopher Patterson; two nieces, Kristina Patterson and Michelle Thompson; two stepbrothers, Willie (Pete)James and William James (Debbie); two aunts, Ann Mallory (Eugene) and Eleanor Brown (Herman); uncle, Nathaniel Wickham, III; a lifetime friend, Carson Kittrell, and a host of other relatives and friends. We are so fortunate to have had him in our lives for so many years and we feel empty without him. Because of the wonderful love he shared, he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts.
