Alisha Catrina Wright

ALISHA CATRINA WRIGHT, was born on July 31, 1972 to proud parents, Verna Gentry and the late Anthony Wright. She was nicknamed “Lisa” but we all came to know her as “Lady Lisa” a name well-suited to this extraordinary young woman. Suddenly on September 10, 2010, Lady Lisa was called to join her heavenly family in their eternal home. During the thirty-eight years we were blessed to have her, Lady Lisa lived a charitable, fearless, magnificent life on her own terms. From childhood on, we all knew she was a force to be reckoned with. Lady Lisa was always the one to step up and handle things, no matter how challenging or daunting. If could work together and accomplish things, all the better because she believe in people working together for the betterment of all. She was definitely a “people person” and the true epitome of the Phenomenal Woman. Lady Lisa gave her time, energy and money, freely and passionately, to anyone she could help, regardless of the person, situation or circumstanced. She had a great charitable heart and worked fervently for any cause of project she deemed worthy. She had such an infectious smile-like sunshine. She could light up any room with just that smile and energy. She was very easy to talk to and confide in, always ready with an uplifting word and encouraging quip. She loved to sing and dance and used her talents to entertain and uplift others. She was an intelligent and savvy young woman who had set some hard fought goals for herself and was on her way to accomplishing all her dreams. Alisha was bound and determined to become a lawyer so she could fight the hard battles from a better perch and she was well on her way. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in less than four years and had recently returned to school to complete her Master's Degree. Al this while excelling in her job with the Maryland Transportation Authority. Alisha was an exceptional employee, a dedicated, hard worker who recently received a well-deserved promotion to Procurement Associate. She was entrusted with the details and safekeeping of hundreds of million of dollars worth of contracts for the State of Maryland. Chances are, you have seen the results of her hard work if you travel the roads in the State of Maryland. Alisha will be truly missed by so many, however, because of the life she lived, she remains in our hearts forever. In the words of Maya Angelou: “A great soul serves everyone, all the time. A great soul never dies, it brings us together again and again.” Lady Lisa was a great soul who will always thrive in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Alisha lives to cherish an abundance of precious memories: her “son” Sparky; her mother, Verna Gentry; brother, Jersey Snyder; nephew, Jersey; maternal grandmother, Lillian Payne; and paternal grandmother, Nell Powell; her special life-long friend and confidants, Brian Saunders and Rolan Monsanto; her “dream husband” Mark Hunter; and many, many family members and friends.
