Albert Davis

ALBERT DAVIS JR., affectionately known as Al or Junior, son to the late Albert Smith Davis and the late Frances Battle-Wilson, was born on September 26, 1954. He was summoned home on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, diagnosed with lung cancer. Al had a reservation on the morning train and he punched his ticket, bound for glory land. Al was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He was a member of the Armed Forces of the United States of America (Marines) in the early 70's. He was employed with the University of Maryland as a Laboratory Animal Technician for 18 years. He then worked as a truck driver for Valley Protein and concluded his career with the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). Al enjoyed his employment and always had a positive attitude and outlook on life. Al had many passions. He thoroughly enjoyed football. He was dedicated to the Redskins, much to the disappointment of his family, the Baltimore Raven fans. This often led to lively debates during the football season. Al also had a great love for collecting coins and music (like his mother), movies and outdoor activities. Al was the patriarch of the family. Family was always a priority for Al. If a family member or friend was sick or needed help, he was always there for support. His love for his family was indescribable. Some of his fondest memories were spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whether it was flying kites, going to movies, dances, or long talks. He also enjoyed traveling south to spend time with his aunt and cousin. His children Eddie, Juney, and Deana always held a special place in his heart. His sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews were also an integral part of his life. And, if you ever wanted to see a loving and beaming grandfather, all you had to do was to ask him about Deonte, Deja, Aniya, Lil Juney, Eboni, Christopher or Edward. His smile would light up the world. Al was 13 years old when he accepted Christ into his life. He along with his brother, the late Thomas Battle and sisters, Sharon Harden and Denise Mabry were all baptized on the same date, July 30, 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland (1113 E. 43rd Street). Al's quiet spirit, infectious smile, subtle sense of humor and one of a kind laugh will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory: his sons, Eddie Collins (Regina), Albert Davis III (Myarishia); his daughter, Deana Davis; his sisters, Sharon Harden, Denise, Mabry, Deborah, De De, and Alverta Davis; brother, Tony Davis; his grandchildren, Deonte, deja, Lil Juney, Aniya, Eboni, Christopher, Edward, Seanay, Mytiaria; his uncle and best friend, Warren; aunts, Mary, Thomasina (Carlos) , Mildred; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
