Zephaniah Beckford

Zephaniah Beckford, affectionately called "Becky", was born in the District of Bickersteth in St. James, Jamaica on October 1st, 1940 to the late Earnold Beckford and Dorothy Morrison. He was the fifth child of thirteen children. Becky attended the Bickersteth Primary School as a child while accompanying his father on the farm. Becky had a brilliant mind, was smart and business oriented. After working for a while as a farmer, Becky learned the trade as a brick layer, and became a master builder and a leader in the Richmond Hill community. On July 31, 1982 Becky migrated to Baltimore, Maryland in the United States. There he met and married his wife Elton Beckford of thirty-one years. While residing in Baltimore, Becky worked with different construction firms and eventually became an entrepreneur serving Park Heights and neighboring communities. Although Becky was not affiliated with a particular religious organization, he believed in God and he was spiritual minded. Becky loved to listen to gospel music and to watch religious services on television. He was eager to help people who were in need both physically and financially. He supported numerous church organizations and was very family oriented. Becky was a great provider and a good father both to his biological and paternal children. He loved his wife and children and enjoyed spending time with them especially during the holidays. Becky was always smiling, laughing and making jokes. Becky departed this life on Thursday August 6, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Zephaniah Beckford leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Elton Beckford; three precious daughters, Sharline, Marlyn and Lorine; one son, Sigrey; ten step- children, Randolth, Raymond, Angel, Yvette, Alex, Pauline, Norma, Cynthia, Kirk and Simone; nine grandchildren, Chereese, Shana, Andre, Jason, Dennis, Saskaya, Keon, Kendra and Dennis Jr.; four great- grandchildren, Shemia, Kennedy, Evan and Levi; four sisters, Grendolyn, Nora, lnez and Julie; four brothers, Renville, Johnny, Morris and Archy; one daughter-in -law, Winsome; two sons-in-law, Clive and Donavan; a host of nieces, nephews cousins, other extended relatives and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
