Willie Alexander Prince ,Jr.

Celebrating the Life of Willie “Boogie” Prince Willie, the first born child to the late Willie Sr. and Florine Prince was born on May 30, 1937 in Southampton County. Willie received his education in Southampton County and later in years he began his career at Presswood Condominium where he maintained employment until his retirement. Willie found the love of his life in Thelma Drew and they became life partners in holy matrimony in 1960. Their union lasted 53 years and yielded two wonderful sons. His family which he loved dearly continued continued with his two granddaughters (one deceased) and one grandson. Boogie was a great orator. His recollection of events was matched by no other family member. His quick wit and humor made his story telling a hit with the family; and he always rose to the challenge of “telling it like it was”. Boogie was considered the family’s historian and he fully embraced his role as the patriarch of the family. God called Boogie to rest on April 6, 2014 in Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter,Keona Monae Johnson, four brothers, Robert ”Bubba” Prince, Frank Prince, George Thomas “Shoe” Prince, and James Arthur “Newt”Prince;and one sister Florine “Tang” Echols. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Thelma Prince, two devoted sons, Timothy “Tony” Prince and Keith Prince,Sr.(Nickole Cary),one daughter, Linda Ivey(Bruce);one grandson Keith Prince,Jr., granddaughters, Kyara Leary, Tonya and Chantell Ivey; great granddaughter Khamaya Leary,goddaughter,Carolyn Crawley;sisters,DeVelma Young and Sarah “Milky”Thomas;brother John Henry Prince (Lou) ;sisters-in-law, Linda Drew, Annie Mae Prince;brother-in-law,Andrew “Pig” Drew (Jenny),Robert Drew(Mary),William “Buck” Drew (Patricia),Arthur “Bloonk” Drew, Richard “Peanut” Echols;aunt Reverend Sarah Gholson; uncle Sam Hatch; nieces, Priscilla “Tiny Baby” Prince, Sarah “Ciney” Prince, Teresa “Tee-Tee”Prince,Melinda Prince and Tabitha Joyner;nephews,Richard”PoKie”Prince.Olando “Monzie”Prince(Sharon),Tyree “Gump” Prince,EricYoung,Jabor Young, and Tyshawn Young; a host of great nieces, great nephews,cousins,friends,and extended recognition to the Cary/Hobbs family. Willie also cherished the smiles that Eddie Howard, Israel Slater,Warren”Shorty” Symree,David Whitlock and Churtesia Turner brought to his life.
