Vivian Johnson Hawkins

Vivian Wilnette Johnson Hawkins was born on September 8,1941 to the late Corbin E. Johnson Sr. and Louise Jackson Johnson in Richmond, Virginia. Also; preceding her in death, was her husband, Frederick Hawkins Ill. The youngest of three children; she was educated in the Richmond Public Schools System, graduating from Maggie L. Walker High School, and received a B.S. degree from Virginia State College (University). She worked as a teacher in Richmond Public Schools for thirty-five years. Vivian became a life member of the Richmond Education Association, the Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association, upon her retirement. She was also a member of the Fairfield Library Friends and the Virginia State University Alumni. She joined the Trinity Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. K. D. Turner and worked during her membership with the New Members Committee, Vacation Bible School, Historical Society, Counting Team and also served as a volunteer at the Trinity Baptist Church Family Life Center. She enjoyed taking trips, traveling to the CIAA tournament yearly and other activities with the "POSSE". To cherish her memory is her son Frederick IV (Erika); grand daughters: Jaila, Arianna and Aliyah; great-granddaughter: Leilani; sister, Mary J. Lee (Kary); brother, Corbin Johnson Jr. (Beatrice); nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
