Virginia L. Taylor

''Honor her for All that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." — Proverbs 31:31 On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, God sent His Angels down and lifted Virginia Lucille Taylor, "Dee" as she was called by many, to her Heavenly Home. Dee was born on September 8, 1942 in Sussex County, Virginia to the late William and Gladys Parker. Her siblings, James, Junius, Raymond, Lorraine and Alice preceded her in death. Dee was educated in the state of Virginia's Public School System prior to moving to Baltimore, in 1952, where her brother, Raymond and sister, Lorraine had come years earlier and worked hard to bring her mother, Gladys, and sister, Alice to start their new life and take advantage of the many opportunities. Baltimore is where her life that most of us knew, began. She met the love of her life, Robert McKinley Taylor and on August 19, 1959 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. From this union two children Robert Jr. and Darrell were born. Robert Jr. preceded her in death. Virginia found employment along with both of her sisters, Lorraine Macklin, and Alice Taylor at Rosewood State Hospital and remained there for over thirty-five years. After RETIREMENT, she served as Treasurer of the AFSCME Retirees Chapter #1 for over fifteen years. Some of her passions were bowling, cooking, computer interaction, traveling to Las Vegas, shopping and attending her church, Gillis Memorial CC Church, where she had been a long time member and served on the Greeters Ministry. Her joy was her relationship with God, and her family. She did all she could to keep the family together. On holidays all the family knew where they could get a four course meal and never needed an invitation!! If a family member was in need of anything, Dee was usually the first call they made. Virginia's life will always be celebrated by those left to cherish her memory: her husband, Robert; son, Darrell; daughter-in-law, Robin; stepson, James of Petersburg, VA; grandchildren, Jarrae (Tavon), Dawon (Nyisha) Tierra, Ashley, Ryan, Sureta (Miguel) and James; fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews; five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, goddaughters; ministers, Andrea Satchell and Brigette Crawford, and a host of other relatives, as well as many special friends.
