Violet Rose Stoakley

VIOLET ROSE PARRAN, the youngest of nine children, was born to the late Warren and Hattie Parran in Calvert County, Maryland. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland at an early age and attended the Baltimore Church School in the basement of the church on Harlem Avenue and Dolphin Street. She was affectionately known as "Miss Stoakley," "Vie," "Peach Cake," and "Mama Violet." Miss Stoakley was united in marriage to William L. Stoakley, Sr., and from this union were Sylvia, Rhonda, William, Jr., Cassandra, and Clarence (Rabbit). After accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, she embraced the "Third Angel's" message and the Seventh Day Adventist belief and was baptized into the church by Elder William L. Cheatham. Miss Stoakley showed her love for the message of the Church as she was an active member of Sabbath School Class #8 and attended the Sabbath School's Teachers meeting. She also, belonged to the BYKOTA [Be ye kind one to another] organization. She was a fun-loving, charitable, compassionate and caring person, always soft spoken and had a kind word for everyone and always willing (and able) to help others in any way she could. She enjoyed reading the daily newspaper, watching her favorite television programs. A day would not be missed without the study of her Sabbath School lesson. Ms. Stoakley touched so many lives. Her quick wit and humor made her a friend to all who met her, because the spirit of God was so prevalent in her life, anyone who was in her presence could sense the love of God. "To God be the Glory." On Sabbath morning [April 19, 2014], at 1:50 a.m., she was touched gently by an 'Angel of Mercy' and now she awaits the "triumphant call" of her soon coming Savior. She will definitely be missed. Yet we sorrow not as those without hope, for we know that death is a sleep that will be broken soon when Jesus appears. Life was rich for Violet. There are many left to celebrate her life and embrace her memory. Violet leaves to rejoice in her memory: three daughters, Sylvia Tapp, Rhonda Tarter and Cassandra Fleet; son, Clarence (Rabbit) Smith; sister, Shirley Parson; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Crowder, Mary Parran and Patricia Veniey; two brothers-in-law, Milton Stoakley and Ray Stoakley; grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends. William Jr. preceded her in death.
