Shahid L. Scott

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes Shahid Laskiek Scott, son of Sherry Darden and the late Christopher Amir, was born in Albany, New York on December 10, 1992. Shahid was called home suddenly on Friday, January 11, 2019. Shahid was affectionately known as “Sha Dog” or “My Favorite Son” to his mother. He would always respond and say, “Ma, I am your only son!” His grqandmother also loved to call him “Little Luke.” Shahid would also wake up every morning reciting his favorite bible scripture. “This is the day that the Lord has made, I shall rejoice, and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). Shahid received his High School Diploma from Chesapeake High School, in Essex, MD. After receiving his Diploma, Shahid had a passion for art. He strongly believed that a good artist fuels their creativity and make work that resonates with others. After finding a love for art, Shahid attended Austing's School of Spa and Technology in Albany, New York. On June 13, 2016, Shahid became licensed by the University of the State of New York in Tattooing Fundamentals. Shahid's former church families were Mount Zion Revival. In 2004, Shahid became a member of God's Will Apostolic Ministries (GWAM), under the pastoral guidance of Elder Charles Bennett, where he formed his church family and served the Lord and his community. Shahid served on the Mime Minisgtry and the Youth Usher Board. Another passion that Shahid enjoyed was spending time with his niece and nephews. He enjoyed going to Rita's on Fridays, reading to them on a daily basis, and winning an exciting game of Uno or Connect four. He was never shy about showing his silly boxing moves to his nephews. Shahid's shy and soft spoken spirit touched many lives. He always kept a smile on his face, in spite of any situation. Shahid would always uplift and encourage others, and would greet everyone with a hug. Shahid was a respectful and humble young man; he did not shy away from giving advice. Shahid loved mother and son time! He would take her out to eat during mother and son outings. One of his favorite trips consisted of going to the nursing home with his mom to give roses to the elderly. Shahid's favorite pastime was watching a good movie. Going to the movies wasn't an option for Shahid. He would say, “Can someone please take me to Walmart to buy a movie!”, and he did not forget to order the pizza. Shahid will continue to live in the hearts of his parents, mother Sherry Darden and father; Christopher Amir (deceased); grandmother, Leona Darden and grandfather, James Darden (deceased); grandfather Christopher Amir and grandmother Brenda Smith-Amir; sisters, Santasia Darden, Shahida Amir, and Shahada Amir; and brother, Luis George. He also leaves four nephews, Carter Darden-Funn, Christopher George, Amir Pope, and August Pope; a niece, Aleah Pope, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly.
