    Ruth H. Williams

    September 28, 1933 - April 17, 2021

    Ruth H. Williams, daughter of the late Rebecca and William Jackson, Sr. was born on September 28, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on April 17, 2021. She was the fifth child of eight children. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Williams and loving mother of Bernadette Hayes and Cynthia Mackins. Ernest and Ruth were together for almost 50 years before his passing. Ruth, known to many affectionately as “Nana” was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1951. After graduating, Ruth went to work at Raleigh Clothing Factory for 16 years. She spent the next 9 years taking care of her family & home. She returned to work for the Baltimore City Public School System, retiring after 19 years of service in 1995. She has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 43 years, where she joined the Prime Age Fellowship, when she retired. She enjoyed being treasurer for a time & attending each week. She loved church services and the church bus trips with her friends. She was a giving person and liked by all who knew her. She was a hard-working and fun-loving person who had numerous friends throughout the area. She loved music, bowling, traveling, shopping with and talking with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her siblings and great-granddaughters. And she liked taking drives with her husband after they both retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James; siblings, Clarence, Elmer, Margaret, Louis, William, Dorothy and Ann; and sister-in-law, Mary DePugh. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Bernadette and Cynthia; grandsons, Billy (E’lon) and Erroll; great-grandson, Diamonte’; great-granddaughters, DeShaunna, Aryanna, Cayla, Raven and Jada; great-great-granddaughter, Camille; her devoted nephew like son, Anthony (Vivian); nieces, Phyllis (Harry), Karen, Vera, Sandra, Carol (Carl), Donna; nephews, Elmer (Denise), Vernon (Daisy), William, Donnell (Robin), Wade (Krystal), Gregory (Cynthia), Eugene (Tia);); a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including two longtime best friends, Rosetta Gupton and Verna Trotman and “adopted” son, Robert Torain (Gabrielle); her Calvary Church & DaVita Greenspring families.
