Romania Dale Winston Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Romania Dale Winston was born on June 26, 1957, to the late Phelix and Dorothy Winston. After a lengthy illness, surrounded by family, Romania transitioned on April 23, 2022, at age 64. Educated in Henrico Public Schools, Romania enlisted in the US Navy at an early age and served as a mechanic and navy firefighter, spending most of his naval service on the island of Guam. After 7 years of service, he received an honorable discharge .and resumed civilian life working as a skilled and talented mechanic, first at the Defense General Supply. Later, as an entrepreneur, he enjoyed repairing automobiles, appliances and renovating houses. A "jack of all trades", Romania could fix anything. Family and friends called upon him "often" and he kindly and willingly gave his assistance, along with his long, "winded conversations" and "philosophy" of life, just like his dad, Phelix Winston. In his youth, Romania loved riding motorcycles and spending adventurous days and with his siblings and cousins on the grandparents' farm in Hanover Co. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping which brought much joy and laughter. A family man, Romania spent many joyous years in Virginia and Alabama with his devoted and loving wife, Deborah, and sons Chris, Michael, and daughter, Janell. On many Sundays, Romania worshiped at New Life Outreach International Church and maintained his faith in God even during difficult times. Vacationing and spending time with the twins and the other grandchildren - he was known as "Papa Mania", to them and they kept him busy; yet, he loved it. He often drove the family on trips to the beach and mountains. He was designated, chef and grill master. In fond remembrance, Romania is survived by his wife, Deborah; sons Chris, Mike; daughter, Janell, and grandchildren; a devoted sister, Linda Winston; brothers, Phelix, Jr., Glen, and Marlon Winston. Three aunts and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
