Rachel Laura Johnson

Rachel L. Johnson peacefully transitioned March 30, 2022. Rachel was born on December 31,1943 in Richmond, Virginia. She was the third child born to the late Joseph B. Johnson and Rosa L. Johnson. Rachel was preceded in death by her brother; Joseph B. Johnson and sister, Mae Helen Johnson. Rachel accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. She graduated from Maggie L. Walker class of 1961. Rachel was employed at MCV Hospital as a dietitian from the late 1960's to the early 1970's. She retired from Eastern Sleep (Symbol Mattress) in 2008 after forty-three years of service. Rachel loved traveling, sewing and cooking. She was always ready to cook a full course meal for those that adored her cooking. She also loved her role as the Cub Scout Den Leader at Bethlehem Baptist Church from 1990-1991. She was also a member of the Sable and Civic Social Club in the early 1970's. She leaves to cherish her memory her family with whom she shared a special bond. Two daughters; Angela L. Johnson and April L. Johnson, grandson; Antoine L. Johnson, and loving devoted companion; George Colbert, one brother; Robert L. Wright,Sr.; five sisters; Joyce L. Wade, Sheila L. Andrews, Dr. Margaret Brown, Tillie Riddick, and Barbara Jean Johnson. A host of cousins, nieces and nephews and three devoted friends; Minnie Walker, Rochelle Sutton and Penny Ingram.
