In Loving Memory Oscar Lee Turner 1944 | 2012 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 Oscar Lee Turner, son of the late Mary Ann Turner and Harold Smith, was born November 26, 1944 in Richmond, Virginia. He departed this life on December 23, 2012. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Kate Wright, Constance Turner and his brother, Sylvester Turner. He was educated in the Richmond Public Schools and at the age of eighteen, he served in the United States Army. For many years, he worked as a Refinisher and was employed with Sydnor and Hundley and he later worked with Helig and Meyers for fifteen years until the fall of his health in 1989. He was united in marriage on September 6, 1969 to his devoted wife, Sheila Tuell for 43 years. Oscar in earlier years attended Center Street Baptist Church and on November 2, 1997, he joined his wife at Sharon Baptist Church where he served on the Mitchell Taylor Men’s Usher Board. Oscar was a kind, loving person and for those who knew him best knew he loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his buddies, Hugh, Pop, Carl, Chris and Thomas. He touched so many in so many ways and will be truly missed. He was a very caring, compassionate and supportive person who loved having fun with his family and friends. He was adored and admired by all who knew him. With the wonderful love he shared, he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. He leaves to cherish his memory a caring and loving wife, Sheila Turner; two sons, Joenathan and Steven Turner; six grandchildren, Juanita (devoted), Alexis, Jasmine, Jada Turner, Tiffany Jefferson and Keyonna Finney; one great-grandson, Jaylen Chavous; five brothers, James, Lloyd (Estelle); Charles (Hazel), Collins (Janeequa) and Norman Turner; three sisters, Mary Jefferson, Carolyn Bakkar and Gloria McDaniel (Robert); three sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Powell, Marian Eaves (Luther) and Dorothy Coley (Edward); a devoted niece, Jacqueline Powell and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
