Nancy James Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

NANCY JAMES was born on September 27, 1926 in South Carolina, the daughter of the late Dan and Florence Carey. Nancy departed this life on July 23, 2022 to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband John James, children Bernard James and Brenda Lyles, significant other Charlie Johnson, and son Charles Johnson. At an early age she joined the Simmons Memorial Baptist Church in the year of 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. Nancy was a faithful servant member until her last days. She loved the word of God. Nancy attended the South Carolina Public Schools. In later years, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland and attended Carver Vocational Night School. Nancy completed the American National Red Cross through the geriatric and certified nursing assistant program while taking care of her family. She was employed at the Hutzler’s Department Store. Nancy had a fulfilled life. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. Nancy had several hobbies, such as sewing, cooking, entertaining (hosting) parties, riding the bicycle, running, shopping, and on-line shopping. Her favorite television shows were Young and The Restless, Bold and The Beautiful, and Judge Judy. She leaves to cherish her sweet memory: two daughters, Glendell Britton and Nancy Newkirk; son, Anthony Johnson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Bernadette James; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
