Melvin Roger Charity

His Journey Melvin Roger Charity, 79, of Henrico, Virginia, departed this world to be with his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2022. He was born to the late Robert Austin Charity, Sr., and Coreen Wallace Charity, on November 6, 1942. He accepted Christ at an early age; as a member of Gilfield Baptist Church, and attended Charles City County Public Schools. In March 1961, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served 4 years as a Civil Engineering NCO. After being honorably discharged from military service, he returned to Charles City, Virginia, and began a career as a civil service employee, until his retirement from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Virginia, as an Operating Engineer. He later attended Guilford Technical Institute in High Point, North Carolina, to study HVAC, receiving an Associate’s Degree in September 1976. Upon completion of his degree, he a opened a business, “Melvin’s Heating & Refrigeration”, in 1977, in which he was active until February 23, 2022. Melvin was preceded in death by son, Raymond Roger Charity; his father, Robert Austin Charity, Sr.; his mother, Coreen Wallace Charity; and brother, Robert Austin Charity, Jr. “Bobby”. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Molly Elizabeth Charity; a sister, Barbara C. Crawley (John); two brothers, Howard H. Charity; and Barry Wendell Charity; one sister-in-law, Barbara J. Charity; one daughter, Vivian Vanessa Charity; four sons Vincent Roger Charity, Victor Robert Charity, Sr., Cyril Roger Charity, Sr., and Carey Roderick Charity; six granddaughters, Cozét Rose Charity, Collin Raquel Charity, Hyacinth Arlene Lewis (Brian), Paris Mechell Cotman, London Shi Anne Cotman, and Lashawnda Monae Barnes; six grandsons, Venod Vincent Charity (Delissa), Victor Robert Charity, Jr., Cyril Roger Charity, Jr., Austin Lewis Charity, Sterling Stewart Barnes, Jr., and Marcus Jay Cotman; one “apple of his eye”, great-grandson, Christopher Aamir Hopkins; and one step-son, Lewis Mark Cotman; along with a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. “Be the best of what you are, whether it be a Devil or Saint.
