Maudrie Pryor

On June 8, 2016, a sweet rose was plucked from the garden of life at the height of its bloom to spend eternity in Heaven. Maudrie Murphy Pryor was born on November 8, 1947 to the late James and Ethel Murphy in Abbeville, Alabama. The family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland in 1955. She received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She graduated from Carver Vocational High School in 1965. After graduation, she was gainfully employed at Maryland Casualty Insurance Company. Later, she was employed at Social Security Administration headquarters in Woodlawn, Maryland. Maudrie was a dedicated government civil servant for 33 years. She often referred to SSA as a little city and made numerous friends during her tenure. Maudrie was united in holy matrimony on October 15, 1966 to the late Charles W. Pryor. To this union two daughters, Geneen Marie and Kimberly Pleshette were born. She confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Samuel B. Redd and later Rev. Charles Coger. She was a faithful member for over 40 years. This dedication in serving Christ continued as a faithful member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church for ten years. She proudly served in the Rhema Ministry. Maudrie truly loved her church family and spoke fondly of her pew family. Maudrie, was a devoted, loving mother to her girls whom she most affectionately called my little pumpkins. Maudrie, lovingly known as Molly or Maude by close family, was most proud to have the name Mom Mom. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren. She spoke of them often and readily had a photo along with a story to share. Some of her favorite pastimes were attending plays and traveling. She was truly grateful to recently journey on a European cruise. Maudrie was a virtuous Christian woman with spiritual integrity. She always greeted others with a warm smile, nurturing hug and positive words of encouragement. She met numerous friends wherever she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory: two loving daughters, Geneen Pryor-Elder, Kimberly Frazier of Inwood, WV; one sister, Annie H. Murphy; one son-in- law, Christopher Frazier; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Myles and Sophia Frazier; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Murphy; family forever, Willard H. Cain Sr., Norma Bailey (Charles), Lavita Pryor, Clyde Pryor (Marietta), Herman Fogus Jr. (Valeeta); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Maudrie was preceded in death by her brother James E. Murphy.
