March 1, 1958 - June 26, 2021
MARJORIE DIXON CHEATHAM, affectionately known as Margie, was born to the late John Wesley Dixon and Mable Madden Moore Dixon on March 1, 1958 in Baltimore, MD. She received her early childhood education and her high school education through the Baltimore City Public School system. Margie accepted Christ into her life and received her baptism during the mid-1990’s. On November 19, 1986, Margie gave birth to her firstborn, Anthony B. Dixon. A few years later, Margie met and married Ralph Cheatham. From this union, her daughter Margie N. Dixon was born on June 27, 1990. Margie really enjoyed helping others. She spent time as a volunteer helping disabled children at The Kennedy Krieger Institute. While volunteering at the institute, she was called upon to assist with feedings, dressings, changings – but she took special pride in helping one of the children who had epilepsy, which was a condition she dealt with, and she always had compassion for that particular child. Margie was also a teachers’ aide at Collington Square Elementary School and Graceland Park Elementary School, both of which her children attended. During Margie’s past-time, she enjoyed attending church, listening to Gospel music, listening to the “oldies” R&B, watching movies, going to the movies, visiting her family and spending quality time with her children. On Saturdays you could find Margie at home listening to Gospel music loud enough that her whole block could hear, while singing and clapping her hands. Her favorite Gospel song was Shouting John by Shirley Caesar. Margie’s favorite hobby was crocheting! She crocheted everything from blankets to potholders! On June 30, 2012, Margie was blessed with her first grandchild, Janessa Dixon. On April 7, 2017, Margie was blessed with her second grandchild, Janae’ Dixon. Margie would often have conversations with her daughter in which Margie would talk about the good times she had with her brothers and sisters while growing up together. Margie would often say to her daughter, “I love all of my brothers and sisters, I just wish they would get themselves together and get right with God. One day I want us all to be together like we used to be”. On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Margie transitioned to be with the Lord. She is welcomed there by her parents, John and Mable Dixon, her sisters Manrise Moore, Betty Knox and Gladys Slappy, her brother Robbin Moore, her brother-in-law Charles Slappy, her aunts Rosetta Wright and Tuttie Moore, her grandmother Mariah (Mama) and, of course, her identical twin sister, Marguerite Dixon, whom Margie deeply missed and spoke about every day. She leaves to mourn her son, Anthony Brandon Dixon, her daughter Margie Nicole Dixon, her granddaughters, Janessa JoAnn Dixon and Janae’ Nicole Dixon, her sisters, Audrey Smith, Clare Ivey, JoAnn Dixon-Oladimeji and Carlester Moore, her brothers Larry Moore and Winston Dixon, her brother-in-law Harry Smith and her sister-in-law, Joyce Moore.
