Marilyn Louise Carter

Marilyn Louise Carter, daughter of the late William C. Carter, Sr. and Marion Quarles Carter, was born the eleventh of twelve children, on October 15, 1956. She went home to be with her heavenly father on November 7, 2022, at the Henrico Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marilyn had a caregiver’s heart. She was an awesome cook, known for her cakes and macaroni and cheese. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She was a breast cancer survivor. And she loved staying in contact with family near and far. Marilyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 9 and was baptized at her home church, Baptist Liberty Baptist Church, in King William, VA. Marilyn received her formal education in the King William County Public Schools. She furthered her education and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business from St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA. Her professional career included employment with Virginia Power, Union Theological Seminary, St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church, and the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. She was also a dedicated and dependable home health care provider. Marilyn was the proud owner of a printing company called Printing Professionals, LLC. Marilyn enjoyed watching sports (Larry Fitzgerald was her favorite player.), Rachel Maddow on MSNBC and old westerns. Marilyn was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Earl, Lawrence, Freeman, one sister Yvonne and one nephew Jason. Marilyn is survived by her twin Marva Burrell (Donald), two sisters Joan Nelson (Darrell) and Arlene Tyler (Gilbert); four brothers William, Jr. (Mollie), Alvin (Wylena), Percy (Cathy) and Michael Carter (Vanessa). One Sister-in-law Cecilia; one aunt, Bessie Quarles; 2 devoted nieces LaTarsia and Angela (Tony). 12 nieces and nephews; William, III, Kevin, Sr., Mint, Allena (David), Kenya (Whitney), Kiragu (Mia), Darnell, Bryant, Earl, Michael, Cordell, and Holley. 20 great nieces and nephews: DaRontae, Kevin, Jr., Bryanna, Andre’, Tre, Taylor, Justin, Amina, Brock, Angel, Joseph, Carter, Shaun, Justus, Nicholas, Evan Kiragu, Abeni, Osei, Mahasin, and Penelope. One goddaughter, Courtney Johnson; best friend, Catherine Johnson; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8
