    Lucy Towns

    February 10, 1938 - June 2, 2021

    Lucy I. Towns, daughter of the late Lena Hurley and Edward Height, Sr., was born on February 10, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland. Also affectionately known as "Mookie or Irene", Lucy departed her earthly life on June 2, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Lucy obtained her high school diploma from Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore City. Lucy was employed at St. Francis Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, serving in various capacities. Lucy went on to obtain her Nursing Assistant Certification through Baltimore City. She then went on to work for The Little Sister's of the Poor and the Sulpician Priest in Catonsville Maryland. She served there until her retirement in 2009. Lucy was an active volunteer: at her chidren's schools ,also in her church communities - serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Parish Council Member, Lady of Solidity and Choir Member. Lucy was an active member of The Transfiguration Catholic Community Senior Group which she loved dearly. Lucy also ran a Summer Camp Program in Johnston Square - East Baltimore that supported and mentored neighborhood youth. She was seen by many as a supportive and loving mother figure and friend within her community. She married Kenneth Towns, Sr. Out of this union Lucy and Kenneth had eleven children. She leaves to cherish her memory eight surviving children. She leaves to cherish her memory eight surviving children - Monica Butsch, Kenneth Towns, Jr., Richard Towns, Quentin Towns, Veronica Towns, William Towns, Brian Towns and Jermaine Towns, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and sons-in-law. Siblings: Edward Height, Jr(D), Randolph Height(D), Mary Parran(D), Sarah Commodore(D), Louis Burriss, Benjamin Burriss(D), Theodore Burriss(D), Emma King(D), Theresa McGluften, Florence Lovett-Gaters, Thomas Lovett, Robert Lovett, Ernest Lovett, William Lovett, Bobby Lovett and a host of other relatives, niecesm nephews and friends.
