Leviticus Jeff Loyal

Leviticus (Jeff) Loyal became the first-born son to the late Isaac and Margaret (Wilson) Loyal on September 28, 1941 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. On January 2, 2022, God called him home after a lengthy illness. Jeff, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1960 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for four years active service and two years inactive reserve. After leaving the military he attended Morgan State College where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and joined the brotherhood of Alpha Phi Omega. Jeff worked for several companies before being employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation where he retired in 2003 after thirty-three years. In December 1970 Jeff married Honey Beatrice Richards. From this union two sons were born, Robert and Kelly. Jeff enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, being with family and friends, all kinds of music, reading the newspaper, traveling, model trains, dinner with the dinner bunch, and the list goes on. Jeff will be fondly remembered for his storytelling. There was never an occasion where he couldn’t engage audiences with stories of the “good times” growing up in the South and spending quality time with family and friends. Jeff could be considered a griot of the family given his knowledge of family history and traditions. There wasn’t a family event that he and Bea did not attend and fully support. He was and will forever be a great example of what it means to be a family man. Jeff loved the Lord and was saved at a very early age. As long as he was able Jeff attended Waters A.M.E. Church where he served on the board of trustees, the finance committee, taught Sunday School, participated in food drives, and helped wherever and whenever he was needed. Jeff was preceded in death by his brother Robert Lee Loyal, best friend and frat brother Berkeley Alston, and step father McNeil James Green. Jeff will be missed by everyone who knew him. Left to celebrate his legacy are: his wife of 51 years, Bea; his sons, Robert and Kelly (Nicole); one brother, Edwin (Stephanie) Green; uncles and aunts, Arthur (Reola) Wilson, Oscar (Margie) Wilson, Elder Sandy (Mahilda) Wilson, Mazie (Friendly) Greene, Annabelle Loyal, Abraham (Alice) Loyal, and Edna Wilson; grandchildren, Tyrell, James, Nyasia, Akil, Amira, Akira, Cherrod, Okang Seitu Okera, Kelly Nicole Ashia, Daniel Nicholas Khalil, and Aaron Miller; great grandchildren, Jayden, Zamora, Samiya, Jhene’, and Nylah; two brothers-in-law, Allen Richards and Charles Richards; two sisters in-law, Barbara Richards and Diane Richards; military buddy, Andrew Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Green family from South Carolina, and his Waters AME Church family
