May 13, 1939 - April 27, 2022
MRS. LAURA HARRIS, devoted wife of the late Jessie L. Harris (preceded by death), was born May 13, 1939 to the late Fred and Ethel McCullough. On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, after a lengthy illness, God called His beautiful angel to enter the pearly gates of eternal rest. Laura was educated in the Rowan County School System of East Spencer, North Carolina. She attended trade school for sewing and computer skills and later received a degree in Business Administration. Laura worked at Maryland Glass and spent many years working at General Electric. Laura was a very friendly, caring, and loving woman; mostly known for her cooking skills and gentle heart to always be there for everybody. If you knew her, you had to know about her homemade rolls and pies. She would entertain family and friends with a game of spades and show off her best dance moves. A real dance machine she was. Laura loved all types of music from Gospel, Blues, and R&B. A dedicated member of Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Maryland for 40 years, she held many positions which included Soup Kitchen Ministry, Senior Ministry, Voices of Inspiration Senior Choir, Alexander Inspirational Choir; and she also played a character by the name of Sister WannaBe in the play called Darkness to Light, directed by Done’ll Cole, all while being an attendee. Laura leaves to cherish her memory: six children, Presley L. McCullough, Raymond L. Hargrave Jr. (preceded by death), Nancy Hargrave-Hawkins (husband, Donald Hawkins), Desiree Clifton (special friend, Calvin Perkins), Anthony Harris (wife, Beverly Harris), Caruiya Harris (special friend, Delois Willis); one living sister, Sarah McCullough-House of New York. She is preceded in death by five sisters, Margie, Addie, Noretha and Essie Mae (New York), and Maggie (Odenton, Maryland), and five brothers, William (Baltimore, Maryland), Jake (Salisbury, North Carolina) Fred (California), David and Jackie (Spartanburg, South Carolina). Laura also leaves to cherish her memory eleven grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren.
