Kenneth Richard Cobbs

Kenneth Richard Cobbs, son of the late James Kenneth Cobbs and Ruth Louise Thomas-Cobbs, was born October 12, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. He transitioned to glory on July 12, 2024 in hospice care at Northwest Hospital. Kenneth, who went by the name “Kenny” and “Richard” by loved ones and friends was one of four children who attended Baltimore City Public Schools (School #148, Lemmel Middle School, and Poly High School). Kenneth was an Army veteran who served his country in the 1970s as a military police officer. Kenneth was a hard worker who spent most of his working years in occupations of Environmental Services and Security at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland where he retired from. Through Kenneth’s life, he met and later married Linda Edlow in 1974, later divorcing. From that union, they had one daughter, Tiffany. Kenneth also had a step-son whom he called his own, Kenzi from that union also. Later on in life, Kenneth then met and later married Lynnette Bess in 1992, later divorcing. From that union, they had two daughters, Shari and Melissa. If anyone knew him, they would know that Kenneth does not play about his family. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were always his focus. He was a protector, a loving, outgoing, hard-working man who always would put his family before himself even while in the midst of his ailments until his transition. Kenneth loved football; his favorite team was the Ravens. He had talented skills where he played semi-pro football. He loved to play Madden football on Playstation and Xbox while relaxing at home. He also had skills as a mechanic. Kenneth loved to eat! Some of his favorite foods were crabs, spaghetti, salads and subs from the famous known Greek Village. He could cook a mean omelet and steak on Saturday mornings. Cooking on the grill was another one of his favorites too. He loved listening to oldies music like the Stylistics, O’Jays, Temptations, and Parliament who is known by the famous song “Flashlight” which he would love to listen and dance to especially while driving with the volume up, windows down, and seat laid back. Michael Jackson was another one of his favorites to unwind, along with jazz artists Boney James and Kenny G. He also enjoyed watching action movies including old school black and white movies to include Bruce Lee. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Cobbs. He leaves to mourn his children, Tiffany Cobbs-Jackson (Tyrone), Shari Cobbs-Edwards, Melissa Cobbs-Harris (Wesley), Kenzi Edlow (step-son); his grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Tyler Peterson, Malachi Edwards, and Caia Harris; his great-grandchildren, Nalah Barclift, Nuriah Foster; his siblings, Tyrone Cobbs, Tonya Cobbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends from Baltimore, Maryland to New Castle, Pennsylvania where he would be excited to visit, fellowship, and connect with family. Kenneth was also ecstatic and proud to have his family grow with the upcoming arrival of two more new additions of grandchildren; one grandson (Kingsley) expected arrival October 2024; one great-grandson (Blake) expected arrival August 2024.
