Junius Nelson Friend

Junius Nelson Friend, 95, born May 30, 1926, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Sitter and Barefoot Veterans Care Center. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Adams Friend, his parents Clarence and Iva Lee Friend; siblings, Clarence Friend, Jr., Evelyn Bunday, Madeline Taylor, Lillian Brockenbrough, Lewis Friend Sr., and Carol Francis. Junius accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He attended and served faithfully at Fourth Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Robert Taylor, Sr. Junius is a WWII Veteran, where he served in the United States Army. He was a certified Brick Mason and Plasterer. He drove long-distance for Greyhound Transportation, Greater Richmond Transit and also worked for the State of Virginia. Junius served his country, family and friends, and fellowman faithfully until his health began to fail. He was a private person; however, he was funny in his own kind of way. Junius Nelson Friend is survived to carry his legacy his two daughters, Pastor Carolyn F. (Bishop Alroy S. Henderson), Michelle Friend; two stepsons, Wade (Alice) and Marvin Randolph; sister, Joyce Morton of Providence Rhode Island; grandson, Ken W. Friend (Shauna); great-grandchildren, Kenonté W. Friend (Lauren) and Kaila Friend; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
