JUNE HOPKINS SPRATLEY

We celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved June Hopkins Spratley who gained her wings to be with our heavenly Father on February 24, 2016. June was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Annie Pugh and the late Hosie Hopkins Sr. June attended Harvey Johnson Middle School and then went to work at the South Baltimore Chemical Plant. At age 63, she went to South Baltimore Learning Center where she received her G.E.D. Later, she began working at the South Baltimore Career Center as a receptionist. June married Billy Spratley in 1964. June was a fashionista. She loved to dance and sing. Her greatest passion was creating her own style. She was unique. Wherever she went, she made many friends. She was well known for her famous dance named the "one bun". She was crowned "the Queen of South Baltimore". She was known all over Baltimore City, to know her was to love her. June was active in her community and kept the streets clean wherever she lived. She joined Leadenhall Baptist Church on February 19, 1987. She immediately served on the male and female senior usher ministry. She was a faithful member of the Royal Ladies Chorus and the Sisterhood Modeling in their annual fashion shows. She was a grandmother to many, loved by plenty and missed by all who knew her; Her famous quote was, "I may not be a star in Hollywood but I'm a star in the neighborhood". Preceding June in death are: three sons, Troy, Charles and Don; two daughters, Jackie and Vonda; brothers, Hosie, Kenneth, and James; sisters, Hattie, Mary Peggy and Sonya; and grandchildren, Corey, Felicia, Roy and Craig. She leaves behind to continue her legacy: her husband, Billy Spratley; sons, Ronald Summerville, Zachary Grandy Sr., Clifton Hopkins, Billy Spratley Jr.; two daughters, Bridgett Hopkins and Posie Spratley; two daughters in-law, Cena Summerville and Lynette Hopkins; great-nephew she raised as her own, Kevin Robinson; two nieces, Sandra and Wanda; god-daughter, Paulette; forty-three grandchildren, Pebble, Ronnie Jr., Timothy, Sergio, Zachary Jr., Carolyn, Tyra, Danielle, Jesse, Adrian, Terrance, Zachary III., Zacharia, Cieara, Meghan, Aleita, Reggie, Crystal, Martina, Don Jr., Michael, Jackie, Audrianna, Justin, Gary, Clifton Jr., Dontae, Hecliff, Keyia, Tonya, Damon, Michael, Vera, Shanecka, Juwan, Rashard, Tyrico, Jeaneta, Vonda, Kareen, Javon, Travis and Justin; one hundred-fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
