Julius Smith

JULIUS R. SMITH, son of the late Cornelius and Esther Smith, was born on March 19, 1956 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He departed this life on February 22, 2011 after a brief illness. He received his primary education at Kollock Public School, South Carolina and his secondary education at Northern High School in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1974, he became employed by Padonia Village Apartments. After his employment there, he went on to work various jobs for private contractors and for City of Baltimore. Julius was affectionately known as “Box.” He enjoyed many things especially watching sports and old westerns, playing cards and family gatherings. He was known for his “tell it as he thought is was” attitude. He was one of the “great debaters”. His weekends were dedicated to his nephew and godson, a male’s sport retreat. He leaves to cherish his memory; one adoring daughter, Katrina L. Wilson; two grandchildren, Earl J. Smith III and Ta’rena L. Wilson; three brothers, John, Cornelius Jr. and Sammy Smith; four sisters, Dorothy Quick-Cobb (Thomas) of Bennettsville, SC, Emily Smith-McCown, Gloria and Harriett Smith; three nephews, Brandon of Bennettsville, SC, Sammy Jr. and Gideon; two nieces, Tiffani and Joy, three great-nephews, Caleb, Zion and Kymonne, god sister, Latanya; three godsons, Darion, Kileal and Gabriel; uncles, aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.
