March 20, 1949 - January 4, 2022
The Abundant Life of Juliana Henson-King Juliana Henson-King, peacefully and resolute in her faith, entered eternal glory and rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York. Juliana, the eldest fraternal twin with her brother, Julius, was born on March 20, 1949, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, to her mother, Mary Agnes Henson, and father, Calvin Campbell. Juliana was affectionately called Julie by close family and friends. Julie joins her parents and youngest brother, Sheldon, who preceded her in death. Julie truly loved her siblings throughout the years and they had an incredibly close connection. She had a special relationship with her elder sister, Clara. Julie migrated to New York just after Clara and they loved living near each other. Julie and her twin brother, Julius, who she fondly called ‘Joe’ were inseparable. She treasured her bond with her baby brother, Sheldon, who she affectionately called ‘Shelly.’ Along with Karl and Karen, each of her siblings meant so much to her and she was incredibly grateful for the strong relationships with them all. Julie was a spiritual and blessed woman of God. Her early Christian upbringing was at the First Apostolic Church in East Baltimore. She believed in the power of prayer, and her relationship with God was personal, intimate, and authentic. When Julie decreed and declared a thing, it manifested. Psalm 91 personifies Julie’s unwavering faith and assurance that God protects her and He would never leave nor forsake her. Julie and her siblings come from a family of prayer warriors – her maternal grandmother, Mabel, and mother, Mary. Undeniably, Julie was brave, bold, and had an indomitable spirit – no matter what came her way, she never complained, but instead remained grateful. Julie believed and trusted God through every situation and circumstances. Julie believed in Shalom Peace and frequently expressed such blessings on others by stating, “I love you, and I pray that nothing is broken, missing, lacking, or lost in Jesus’ Name.” After graduating from Edmondson High School, in Baltimore, Maryland, Julie was excited about joining the Western Electric Company. In her freetime, she enjoyed zipping about in her beloved Javelin car. Julie became known for her driving skills and mastery of stick shift maneuvering. During the 1970s, Julie decided to relocate to New York. Her pursuit for higher education led her to Bronx Community College, where she earned an Associate’s degree before completing a Bachelor's of Science at Mercy College. She made numerous friendships during those years that would last a lifetime. In 1990, Julie married Harrison King and the union lasted 19 years. They were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Briana Ashley. Julie fully embraced motherhood. Motherhood wasn’t just a title or role; parenting was her ministry of love. Julie was very proud of the loving and caring Christian woman Briana had become. Julie celebrated Briana’s various milestones including her graduation from Cornell University and purchasing her first home. She always gave God the glory. Julie exemplified Phillipians 4:13, “I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me” in all aspects of her life – both in motherhood and in her career. She successfully balanced the two and often took her daughter to work. Despite entering a field with very few women and people of color at the time, Julie worked her way through the ranks within the insurance industry. She worked at both MetLife and Allstate as an insurance agent. She later opened her own insurance agency, JHK Insurance Agency, Inc., as an independent broker. Julie was caring and gregarious, which made her a perfect fit for her role as everyone’s favorite insurance agent. She loved helping each and every client that came through her door. Julie had an incredible heart to lend a helping hand, whenever and however she could. She was known for her genuine and generous heart; she prayed over everyone and every situation. Julie treated her clients like family. Motherhood and her career were not the only attributes of Julie; she was the family’s chef as well. According to her daughter, Briana, and Julie’s nieces and nephews, she was an amazing cook. They loved Julie’s cooking, and she, in return, loved cooking for them! Julie relished spending time with her family. Julie was always ready for an adventure. She loved traveling to international and domestic destinations; she enjoyed learning about cultural nuances wherever she went. Julie enjoyed traveling with her family, especially with Briana. She loved the quality time spent with her daughter on mother-daughter trips. Julie loved sharing her travel stories with others. Julie was and will forever be a first-class act. Julie’s bright smile, no-nonsense disposition, positive, and giving spirit will always be cherished by those who were blessed to know her. She was blessed to have friends from all walks of life and various cultural backgrounds. Julie’s legacy continues through her daughter, siblings, family, friends, neighbors, and clients. Knowing that she lived a fearless, unapologetic, and faithful life is comforting to those who knew her. Julie challenged others to do the same. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy: Her dedicated and loving daughter, Briana King; faithful eldest sister, Clara Garrett; loyal twin brother, Julius Henson; sister, Karen Covington; brother, Karl Campbell; Aunt Myrtle Conigland; loving nephews and nieces who thought the world of her: Dawron, Jenee, Jeneil, Christian, Joshua and Jessica, special cousins, Angela Eve, Raymond Jr., and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends, neighbors, and clients. Until we meet again in Glory, Rest, Julie, in the Holy Bosom of Your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
