Joan M. Wright
September 25, 1935 - February 22, 2021
JOAN MARIA WRIGHT, daughter of the Catherine Hayes and James Harris, was born on September 25, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on February 22, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Joan was a devout Catholic and worshiped for many years at St. Veronica Catholic Church in Cherry Hill. Joan received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School and was a proud graduation of Dunbar Senior High School. She began working for the State of Maryland and held numerous positions throughout thirty-year tenure. In 1996 she retired from the Appeals and Grievance Department with the State of Maryland. For the next twenty-five years, Joan enjoyed researching her family history, sharing her wealth of knowledge about life, and seeking a holistic approach to healing her aches and pains. She often shared her vision of a home on acres of land where she would reside with family and friends one day. There is comfort in knowing that she is finally home, her health and strength have been restored, and she will have an abundance of stories to share when we who love her meet her there. She leaves to cherish her memories: two siblings, Donald and Paula Dickens (Johnny); four sons, Robert, Jhan (Janice), Edmund (Cynthia), and Timothy (Sheila); two daughters, Rayner and Medina. She was preceded in death by her son Carroll. Her legacy continues with sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend, Ms. Jimmie Tyler
