    Ms. Jessie Mitchell

    August 25, 1941 - August 13, 2021

JESSIE LEE MITCHELL was born on August 25, 1941 in Lillington, NC to the late Ammeretta and Henry Mitchell. The Lord called his angel home on August 13, 2021 at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, MD. Jessie moved to Baltimore, MD in 1965 to be with her mother, sister and brother. She was a warm, loving, and caring person who had such an abundant spirit of love inside. Although she was sick for a long time, her love for family surpassed any bad day. She was always bashful and not much of a talker, but once she got comfortable around you, she was such a joy and ray of sunshine. Her smile would light up a room and her laugh was such a joy. She was very supportive of her children’s wishes and dreams. Even though she was the sickly one of her siblings, she took care of the family in her own loving ways. She proved how strong she was time and time again by being there for family when they needed it most. Jessie loved watching her old westerns and cartoons every day. She was a very independent woman. She would do anything to help others including giving her last dollar, if needed. Her kind and caring spirit is so refreshing because one would think she needed help, but she would always say “I can do it” and “I got it” and that was strength and determination! Jessie had a great talent of singing and would sing at the request from her church where she loved to show her talent. One of her favorite songs to sing in church was “I Need You” and “You Are My Strength” sung by Sis. Cassandra. She joined Spread the Word Cathedral under the leadership of Pastor Vernon McBride in 1989. She was a devoted intercessory prayer warrior, a missionary, and was very devoted to Sunday school. She was also a devoted member of the Women’s Ministry. She enjoyed fellowshipping with her friends and church family. Jessie cherished her family and was the bond that held them together. She was a compassionate peacekeeper and knew exactly how to leverage any situation by praying. She prayed for everyone and took great pride in letting anyone know just how much she cared for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister May Butler, brother John Mitchell, and daughter Juanita Massey. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter Jacqueline; her beloved son, Terry; her sweet granddaughter, Tiffany; her adorable great-granddaughter, Alanah,; her son-in-law, Theo; her best friends, Deborah and Mother Stevenson; her favorite cousins, Eva, Tasha, and Jewel; and a host of other relatives and friends near and far.
