Jerry Lee Pleasant Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jerry Lee Pleasant Sr. was born to the late William A. Pleasant Sr. and Rosa Gordon-Pleasant on February 15, 1949 in Goochland, Virginia and was the youngest of seven children. Jerry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years – LaVerne S. Pleasant; Sisters Lorene Ellis and Rozelia Taylor; and Brother William Pleasant Jr. He attended Mosby Junior High and was part of their Basketball and Baseball Teams and he played Football for the Chimborazo Recreation Organization. He graduated from Armstrong High School in June 1968. After graduating he joined the Marines and once Honorably Discharged, he went to work for Reynolds Metal Company until he retired in 2010 after 40 years of employment. Also while working, he attended J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College and studied Architectural Designs. Jerry attended Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church early in his life and rededicated himself as a member on January 12, 2014. He loved to Bowl, watch Westerns, solve Sudoku puzzles, and Cycling. He leaves to cherish his precious memories 4 children – Rhonda Walker (André), DeAundria Pleasant, Jerry Pleasant Jr. (Charnessa), and Michelle Bowden; Seven Grandchildren – Melissa Hill (Maurice), André Walker Jr., Destine White (Douglas), Daerica Sawyer, Dairon Pleasant, DeMya Surls, and Jerry L. Pleasant III; two sisters – Martha Dowtin and Ruth Keeve; and one Brother - Morris Pleasant; Five great-grandkids, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other Relatives, Friends and his Bowling Family. Also devoted to cherishing his memory is his Homie and Best Friend – Arthur Warren Lee (60 years of friendship and memories), loving Niece Denita Dowtin, and his Godchildren – Shari Austin and Warren Lee.
