December 7, 1951 - May 17, 2021
Issac "Ike" Jones Jr, the son of the late Mary L. and James Jones, was born on December 7, 1951 in Baltimore, MD. He was called home on May 17,2021. Ike attended the prestigious Dunbar High School, acquiring his diploma through night school. He started working at age 17 and retire at the ripe age of 66. His roots are planted in construction for over 5 decades. As a general labor foreman, Ike was responsible for creating for his own team. In doing, Ike impacted a lot of young guys lives. Those who were fathers with families, who just needed a break of an opportunity to earn income to provide for their families. Ike game them that break, but he also was a boss who did not play. He was strict and played by the rules, which sometimes earned him names that we can't print here: however, one name of honor he earned was ICEMAN. While on the job, work and its quality were Ike's focus. While off the job, that's whole entirely different story. IKE was the exact opposite. He was a jokester, he loved making people laugh he was silly at times, even the life of the party. Children loved Ike and he seemed to be EVERYONE'S uncle. Ike grew up in church, where they would attend seven days a week. As Ike got older, he kept Christ close to his heart, and dedicated his life back to Him in recent years. Ike was musician who played the Trumpet back in the day. He was a part of a band known as The Young Generators. He also loved sports, basketball and bowling being his favorite. In the old days. Ike, His best friend Kimbo, and his late cousin Linzy would bowl every weekend against other players. Ike and his best friends and family would also play basketball all over Baltimore City, competing with many people. Ike was really athletic; he even played a little tennis. Additionally, Ike was no slouch at the card tale, as he played his favorite card games, spades and pinochle. Ike has gone home to be with his parents, Mary L. and James Jones; and three brothers,Charlie, Theodore, and James Jr' on grandson, Wade Purvey Jr; and his favorite nephew Anthony. Ike will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, six children; Violet Jones Hammond, Issac Jones, Yvette Jones, Isaiah McQueen, James Deshazo, and Krystle Jones; three sons-in-law, Steve Jones, Melvin Hammond and Malcolm Lawson; five brothers, Jack, Edward, Howard, Milton, and Arnellio Jones; three sisters, Virginia, Vernice, and Denise.
