Irvin Saunders Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Irvin Saunders departed this life, Monday, April 19. 2022, at home. He was born on October 25, 1925, in Danville VA to the late Charles Saunders Sr. and Hattie Ferrell. He was educated in the County School system in Danville Va. He professed his hope in Christ at an early age at the Kentucky Missionary Church. He joined the US Army and upon discharge, he moved to Baltimore MD. He joined Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church in 1956. Irvin remained an active member until he became ill. He was married to the late Coritter Wright who preceded him in death. Irvin later met and married Dr. Starmaine Perry. In addition to his longtime membership in the Masonic organization, gardening and sharing his vegetables with neighbors was another one of his hobbies. He was also a dedicated member of the Flower Circle. His main goal was to help his fellow members with heavy lifting, "a true gentleman". There was a special love shared between Bro. Saunders and his neighbors. Remembering the good and unselfish acts and deeds of Irvin is a great consolation and a source of strength and encouragement. Irvin worked many years at Bethlehem Steel-Shipyard and Sparrows Point and loved his job as welder. Irvin leaves to cherish his precious memories with his loving wife Starmaine Saunders and with his daughter Charlene (Mark) Guy; Bernice (Curtine) Powell; Eric (Portia) Perry; Sterling (Sylvia) Perry; Sharmaine Perry-Ford, Grandchildren: Mark II, Tamar, Timothy (Jacquelyn) Guy; Celae Robinson, Paris Ford, Roderick Perry, Arnita (Bryant) Maple, Lamont Perry, and Dwayne Perry. A host of great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by all his sibling and two sons. Alpierce Perry, and Samuel Irvin Guy.
