Hilda Bernadette Coleman, 69 years of age passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, June 4, 2022, at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond Va. Hilda was born January 13, 1953, and grew up in Charles City County. She was the daughter of the late Ailleen E. Jackson and William John Jackson Sr., of Charles City County, Virginia. Hilda attended and was a member of the Charles City High School graduating class of 1973. Hilda worked and retired from Eastern State Hospital after 35 years of committed service. Over the years she kept in touch with former co-workers, Mrs. Glover, Jessie and Linwood. Hilda accepted Christ into her life at an early age, was baptized, and joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church where she sang in the Junior choir which later became the Jerusalem Baptist Gospel Singers. (The JB’s) She enjoyed being a member of the choir and served faithfully. Hilda was kind-hearted, but stern. She enjoyed talking, meeting others and spending time with her family. In her leisure, she adored crocheting, making floral arrangements, and tending to her plants. She was the caretaker for her late sister Margie for several years. She found great joy in the family Christmas Breakfasts with her sons and nephews cooking. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, James Coleman, and her sister Margie A. Jackson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Fartina Johnson, John Greene, Newsome Greene Jr.; two stepsons, Newsome Greene, and James Coleman III; goddaughter, Tangela Jackson; two fur babies, Coco and Kaka; two sisters, Hilda J. Richard, of Charles City, Va., Joan Randolph (Tony), of Richmond, Va., brother, William John Jackson Jr., of Dinwiddie County, Va.; mother in law, Carol Coleman Nesbit; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one step grandchild; three nieces; great nieces; eight nephews; great nephews, two devoted friends Eloise Green and Odessa Glasspi, and a host of cousins, a special cousin Yvette Taylor, other relatives and many caring friends, and among them Timothea Seward.
