    Henry Coates Jr.

    December 2, 1941 - December 11, 2021

Henry Nathaniel Coates was born as a twin on December 2, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to Henry Nathaniel Coates Sr., and Dorothy Coates Jones. He fell asleep in death on Saturday, December 11, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. "Lil Pops" as he was affectionately known attended the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1961. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for over forty years. Henry had many hobbies, but truly loved football, traveling, music and working in his yard. Henry met the love of his life, Mary Ella Stamper whom he married on September 2, 1961, and out of that union, there were seven children, five girls and two boys. He was proud father who admired all of his children and their accomplishments. On June 4, 1966, Henry dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved talking to people about the Bible and he loved teaching people to read. He was a father figure to many. After retiring, Henry and Mary Ella relocated to the Inez Community in Warren ?County, and enjoyed years of gardening, landscaping and being a dependable man for whatever was needed. In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by two brothers; his twin, Harry Coates and James Coates. To cherish his memory, he leaves: his wife of sixty years, Mary Ella Stamper Coates of Warrenton, North Carolina; his children, Sharon (Kim "Mann") Clark of Baltimore, Maryland, Robin (Cedric Sr.) Waters of Orlando, Florida, Yvonne (George) Sharps of Warrenton, North Carolina, Jacqueline Allen, Letitia (Dante') Blowe, Henry (Shutic) Coates Jr., all of Baltimore, Maryland and Steven (Tinka) Coates of York, Pennsylvania; thirteen grandchildren, Brandon, Duwan, Davon, CJ (Abiigail), Bryan (Amber), Cameron, Morgan, Jazmyne, Chauncey, Jaylen, Courtney, Breahna and Leah; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Johnson, and Sylvia Parmlee, both of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Donald Coates of Baltimore, Maryland; one aunt, Gwendolyn Brown of Baltimore, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends
