Gertrude H. Bolling

GERTRUDE W. BOLLING was born the sixth and youngest child of the late Frank W. Wainwright, Sr. and Lena Waters Wainwright on July 8, 1944 in Baltimore, MD. She quietly answered the call of her heavenly Father to return home on January 28, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Gertrude was born into a strong loving and closely knit family. She was educated in the public school system of Baltimore. She was extremely cultured and refined. Her love for reading, thirst for knowledge and love for cultures of the world were evident as she moved through life. She was a 1966 graduate of Morgan State College which further wet her appetite for learning. She attended Morgan and was a classmate with strong educators such as the late Dr. Walter Amprey, former superintendent of Baltimore City Public Schools. She loved sharing knowledge with whomever she encountered. Gertrude accepted Jesus as her personal savior at a very early age. She was a longtime member of The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin. She loved attending church and was a very active member until her health failed. She was a lay speaker and participated in various ministries of the church. She is remembered fondly by the members for the loving kindness she shared so freely. She made many lifelong friends at church. A consummate learner, Gertrude was a longtime educator in the public school systems Baltimore City and Baltimore County. She loved her students and pushed them to always strive to do their best. She loved teaching and desired the to make an impacted in the lives of the impressionable. Her love for learning was shared with her family and friends. She loved conversing with her nephews about history, current events and anything of significant importance. After a lengthy career as an educator she transitioned from education and continued as a public servant by going to work at the Social Security Administration. Gertrude was a public servant. She served in the United States Air Force Reserves and was honorably discharged. She met and married Millard Bolling while employed at the Social Security Administration. They were united in marriage on September 26, 1987. In addition to reading, learning and conversing she loved karate, sport, traveling and all types of music. She loved to draw, paint and play the piano. Visits with Gertrude could include great conversation, music of all types and reminiscing of times gone by. She was full of life and cherished every moment. She loved her family and often shared gifts and handwritten notes and cards with them. She loved to support her family and friends and often attended functions honoring them. She would often show up and extend her love and it was reciprocated by her family. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, three of her brothers and her sister. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 31 years Millard, two stepdaughters Tamara and Melissa, one brother Levin O. Wainwright Sr., one special sister Earnestine F. Wainwright, three sisters in law, one aunt, Erma W. Brown, several nephews and nieces, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
