    July 4, 1952 - February 20, 2022

    Her Life Geraldine Bernice Heiskell Thornton departed this life on February 20, 2022, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was born July 4, 1952, to the late Walker Heiskell and Deloris C. Latney. She graduated from King William High School. She joined Rock Spring Baptist Church at an early age. She was married to the late James E. Thornton, Jr. for 48 years. She was a devoted employee of King William County Public Schools for over 40 years as a bus driver. She prided herself on being a safe, caring bus driver to many children over the years. She also worked for over 15 years at Kings Dominion in the Admissions department showing the same care and pride in doing a good job. She was a wonderful mother to her three children and a great support to her nieces and nephews. She loved her family and had a kind, supportive, loyal heart. She is survived by her devoted children, James, III (Frances), Jermain (Maxine), and Kimisha; grandsons, James Trayvon, Oryan, Nicholas, Dionte; granddaughter Iesha; devoted sisters the late Patricia A. Moore (James) and Gwendolyn Spurlock (Elvin Sr.); devoted brother, William Latney, Jr. (Shirley); sister- in-law, Gracie L. Davis; three aunts, Rosa Bullock, Francine Booker, and Francis Brown; one devoted niece, Lynette Moore; nieces, Maria Smith (Lynn), and Shirkelya Latney; nephews, Vincent Moore, Sr. (Sharita), Elvin Spurlock, Jr. (Janice) Antron Spurlock, and James Moore; devoted friends the late Carol A. Williams, Elsie Mitchell, Carrie A. Washington, and Rhonda Moore; host of other of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Today we are sad because we will not see her in the physical life. But she will forever remain in all our hearts.
