    George Baker Jr.

    January 20, 1953 - March 30, 2021

    On January 25, 1953, George Baker, Jr. was born to the late Maggie Baker and George Baker, Sr. George was educated in Baltimore City School System. He graduated from Dunbar Senior High School in 1972. After completing high school, he attended Virginia Union University. George was the second oldest of nine children; Bedia Bilal, Charles Baker, Davis Baker, and Phyllis Wilson who proceeded him in death. George worked at John Hopkins Hospital , as an operating room tech, before beginning his career in the Baltimore City Fire Department on October 8, 1984. Throughout his career he developed lifelong friendships with so many individuals, such as, but not limited to Albert Yingling, Oliver Silver, Jeff Downing, and Dante Stewart that he spoke of as his fire department son, George retired in 2008. After a lengthy courtship, George married the live of his life Margerite, on July 19, 1998. This union created a blended family of three daughters Tanya, Dawn, Kindra, could tell stories over and over again of his childhood, his parents, his sports abilities to cook, especially his signature lasagna and chicken & dumplings, His greatest past time was playing countless games of pinochle for fun with family and friends. George was affectionately known as Junie, by his family. His grandson, Travonn Barnett proceeded him in death; however George treasured his memory and reminisced about the things that made him a respectable young man who was gone too soon. George Baker Jr., leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Margerite S. Baker, four children – Tanya N. Davis, Dawn N. Baker, Kindra G. Baker, George D. Baker; two stepsons – Tavon A. Moody Sr. and Nelson L. Moody Jr.; two daughters-in-law Sharrice Davis and Alexandra Moody; one son – law James Shaw; ten grandchildren Brittany, Erica, Tavon, Taylor, Tavon Jr., Tiyonna, Destinee, George, Journee, and Peyton; five great – grandchildren Seyoni, Tavon, Tra'Mia, Earl, and Travonn Jr.; two brothers Thomas Baker and Samuel Baker; two sisters Christine Horrey (Warren), Mary Hinton (Anthony); five brothers-in-law Michael Falls Sr, Milton Falls, Maurice Falls, Deral Falls, Sr. (Tanya) and Samuel Hargrove (Kenyatta); mother-in-law Mary Falls, four aunts Delores, Alice, Janice and Lucy; one uncle Nathaniel; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
