    Fred P. Hatcher

    November 13, 1947 - January 3, 2022

FRED PHILLIP (ROY) HATCHER, the son of the late Cisro and Kathryn Bell Hatcher, was born on November 13th, 1947 in Battleboro, North Carolina. After a lengthy illness, he departed this earthly life on Monday, January 3, 2022. Fred attended Phillip High School and later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he was employed for 30 years with the City of Baltimore in the transportation department until he was forced into early retirement due to health reasons. Fred was preceded in death and in a Common Law Union with his longtime love and companion, Edith Lee Wills for over thirty-eight years. Surely, his ‘Edy’ is waiting on him with open arms. Waiting on Fred, are also his brothers, Cisro Jr. and Albert Dean. Fred was a die-hard Baltimore Ravens fan and would root for them even in their worst of football seasons, and did not mind correcting you if you said anything contrary to them being the best team around! Fred not only loved the Baltimore Ravens and that lighted purple stadium, but he loved his children and bragged on them at any given opportunity. He loved talking to people and getting to know them – and not only that - he loved playing the lottery because he joked that one day he was going to win it big. Hit big – he did when he transitioned from this life to be with the Lord. Fred’s heart of gold and smile will be forever cherished. Fond memories will remain with his children, sons Tony Sharpe (Nikesha) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; Clayton Wills (Arkela) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Tony Wills (Laura) of Charlotte, North Carolina and his daughters Sharon Wiggins of Rocky Mount and Gloria Wills of Baltimore, Maryland; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, JohnD. Hatcher (Nellie) and Wilbert Hatcher (Sarah); a sister, Catherine Whitaker (James ‘Bud’) all of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
