Ellis Leon Hunter

The Story of His Life His beginning…. Ellis Leon Hunter, Sr. began his life’s journey on Monday, May 31, 1954 in Richmond, Virginia. He was born to the late Vernon and Virgie Christian; and was reared by his adoptive parents the late Stuart and Louise Hunter. His life’s story…. He was educated in the Hanover public school system and graduated in 1973 from Lee Davis High School. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the fellowship of the First Union Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Virginia. Ellis was employed by American Tobacco, the Department of Public Utilities of Henrico County, and Houff Transfer Company of Richmond, Virginia. Ellis loved music and started playing drums in elementary school which continued through high school and on throughout his life. At his death, he was the drummer for the band Wild Card. His other hobbies in life was being an avid Redskin fan and a love for the drag strip where he raced his cars: Barracuda, Road Runner, Camaro, and the Corvette. Ellis always cherished the times spent with family and friends. He left many impressions upon all with whom he came in contact and will be remembered by his unique laugh. He was indeed a loyal family member and friend who could be depended upon. His memory…. Ellis leaves cherished memories to his loving family, his children, Cherisa T. “Angel” Crew, Quantrell “Trell” McClutcher (Welford), Ellis L. “EJ” Hunter, Jr and their mother, Myra Nelson; Travis C. Waddell and his mother, Dorothy Adams; fiance, Gail Mickie; two brothers, Alanda Christian (Shirley), and Donnie “Poo” Christian (Betty); eight grandchildren, Alexus L. Johnson, Travosea N. Crewe, Aliyah S. McClutcher, Saivon A. Page, Damyray “Heavy D” Page, Matthew Waddell, Ariyanna Hunter, and Jordan McClutcher; two sisters, Earlene “Mitzi” Lewis (Eric) and Velma “Baby Sis” Fox (Marvin), two aunts, Louise Baker and Constance Champion of Washington, D.C. a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and loving friends. Family tribute….. In the beginning God created heaven and earth but somewhere between his infinite wisdom, he created Ellis Leon Hunter, a son, a brother, father, and a comedian. His laugh was what you would call soul food which was good for the heart leaving you filled with love. His signature laugh will always echo in our hearts……… Are u ok?
