ELIZABETH D. PAYNE was born July 11, 1947 in Hanover, Maryland. She was the second oldest daughter of five children born to John and Mamie Irene (Parker) Robinson. She departed this life on March 7, 2021 after a series of long-term illnesses. Elizabeth, known as Sissy, met and married her childhood sweetheart James Payne in November of 1968 and from that union they had two children, James and Melissa. She received her education at Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Elizabeth studied at Baltimore City Community College and received an Associate’s degree in childhood education. Her first job was at Tommy Tucker department store, where she enjoyed bringing home candy and goodies to her family. Later, she worked at the Baltimore City Post Office and the SSA. Elizabeth also worked as a House Manager for Chimes of Maryland, where she cared for mentally challenged adults. She loved God and her family and spent most of her time at home coordinating family affairs over the phone. By and large, taking care of family was the highlight of her life, she was an excellent cook and known for her immaculate cleaning (e. g. she bleached everything). She is preceded in death by: her late son, James A. Payne, Jr.; and her late sisters, Yvonne Day and Nancy Dorsey. She leaves behind to mourn and honor her memory: her husband, James A. Payne, Sr.; her daughter, Melissa D. Payne; her sister, Dorothy Lievers; her brother, John Robinson (Michele); many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends (including a special friend, Brenda). My wife, you were my childhood sweetheart, my first love. The love of my life, since I first laid eyes on you. Your unconditional love, nearly 60 years, inspired me to become a better man, husband, and father for our loving family. With you, I was able to travel to different places in the world surrounded by your love, laughter and cheer, while I experienced life with my wife and best friend. Throughout our union, we shared the love for Jehovah God. I now understand the pain you endured at the end of your life and pray you have found eternal peace. Your death is one of the hard
