At an early age Edward Allen Knox, Sr. affectionately known as “Hosea” attended Arch Church in Baltimore, MD. Later in life, he joined the Pentecostal Holiness Church where the name was changed to Love To Life Church Minister in Baltimore, MD, where he was baptized under the leadership of Elder/Overseer George Wilson on November 2004. There he served as a Deacon, President of the Usher Board, Trustee, and was also a Sunday School Teacher. He also sang in the choir. He was very active in the church until he moved to Richmond, VA. He joined Chicago Avenue Baptist Church where he decided to get rededicate his life to Christ and was baptized on February 14, 2016, under the leadership of Pastor Marvin Haskell. He was a Sunday School Teacher and also sang in the choir. He was a faithful member until his health started to decline. Mr. Edward Allen Knox, Sr. “Hosea” departed this life on May 12, 2022, at 7:28 PM with the love of his life by his side, wife Karen which is affectionately known as “Kitten” and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Cynthia Doyle who has been with them until the end. His son, grandsons, great-grandson and was also by his bedside. Hosea was provided hospice at home where his lovely wife was his caretaker until being transferred to Bon Secours Community Hospice House in Richmond, VA for seven days. He was strong and fought cancer for 4 years. He was the son of the late George A. Mosley and the late Pauline Knox. He was the baby of the family, the fourth child, and the last. He was preceded in death by three siblings Juanita “Nita” Knox-Wiley, Diane Knox-Vance, and Nathaniel T. “Big Man” Knox. The Gleaming of the Sun His early childhood and adolescence was spent in Baltimore. Hosea attended Dunbar High School. In Baltimore while still in school, he worked for Domino Sugar. After graduation he was hired full time at Domino. Later on, he decided to change careers where he landed a job with Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD in 1992. There he was a Maintenance Mechanic Lead where he earned several certificates in his department. Hosea worked for the next 25 years before he retired in 2017. Hosea was a great mentor to the younger generation and the older generation. Where ever he went he would always be preaching about God. He loved the Lord and whoever he came in contact with he let them know. He wasn’t ashamed to let you or anyone know how much he loved the Lord. Whenever he went he would talk about the Lord to just about each and everyone he came in contact with, how he loved God. Hosea met the love of his life in 1975, Miss Karen Regina Bailey affectionately known as “Kitten”. They fell in love and got married on April 16, 1981. To this union, one son was born on March 2, on Hosea’s birthday. They named him Edward Allen Knox, Jr. affectionately “Peppy”. He was so happy that his only child was born on his birthday. They were together for 47 years. They were married for 41 years, where they just celebrated 41 years of marriage this past April. They were high school sweethearts when she was 16 and he was 19 years old. When you saw one, you saw the other. There were like Mutt and Jeff – couldn’t keep them apart. He loved his wife with all his heart. Hosea never complained. He loved all kind of sports, but the Baltimore Ravens was his favorite team. He was a die heart fan. He would argue you down when it come to his team. He loved his music. You could catch him singing most of the time, especially oldies and gospel to his wife. He could whistle his music with a toothpick in his mouth and boy could he dance. He enjoyed dancing his Holy Ghost Dance and the old school dance which he could not be outdanced. Hosea always kept a happy smile on his face. He was never a stranger to any person that he came in contact with. He meant so much to so many people. Everyone he came in contact with fell in love with his sweet personality and that beautiful smile. Anyone who knew him knew he was a Godly man always willing to go out of his way to help out any and everybody he came in contact with. The Shining of the Sun He leaves not to mourn, but to cherish the memories are his loving wife, Karen R. Knox “Kitten”, of the home; one son, Edward Allen Knox Jr. Peppy” of Baltimore, MD; two grandsons, Edward Allen Knox, III of Virginia Beach, VA “Navy Man” and Donte Wilson Port of Baltimore, MD, our Longshore Man of Baltimore, MD; his one and only great-grandson, Little Mr. Nasir Wilson of Baltimore, MD; four sisters-in-law, who were more like a brother to them instead of a brother-in-law, Mrs. Deborah Bailey-Kpazahi, of Essex, MD, Mrs. Cynthia (Michael) Doyle of Richmond, VA, Mrs. Robin “Angel” (The late Maurice) Jackson of Baltimore, MD, Victoria “Vicky” Bailey of Baltimore, MD; one (deceased brother-in-law), Mr. Donald Bailey Jr. “Pouchie” and Mr. Donte Bailey of Maryland. “Bonus Sisters-In Law” Pamela Baily, Sharon Bailey, Derria Bailey-Hutchinson, all of Maryland; his father-in-law, Mr. Donald Bailey, Sr. of Baltimore, MD who were more like a father Hosea’s dad and daddy always say that’s not my son-in-law that’s my son those two were so proud (Dad & Son). Hosea loved him with all of his heart; one aunt-in-law and one uncle-in-law, Mrs, LuLu Williams and Frederick Williams of Middle River, MD. LuLu the bestie and Willie and Emily Bridges of Kitten and me, Georgana McCray and Connie Sample Fatima Wallace and Carol Cooper, loyal family. I know that you will take care of my Kitten. Let’s us not forget Hosea’s niece, Miss 21 “LaShawn Hicks” as daddy called her. Also, Hosea and Kitten inherited two son’s Mr. Eric Bannister, Mr. Brian Crandell, and Lazy Hazy Tavon (Boy). Two special friends/brothers, Edward Sample and Michael Doyle. Always remember to love your family and treat your wife, as if she gold. Hollar back I’m watching you. I will always love you my brothers, Rev. Richard A. Mosley, Sr. A special thanks for sticking by my side. He leaves his church family from the North and South. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. I will always love you, never forget your uncle “Hosea” to Pastor Wilson and First Lady Hey Doc (smile), my spiritual Dad and Mom. Thank you for being such a wonderful mentor in my life “Hosea”. Love you forever, I will always cherish you.
