    Edna L. Polston Miller

    July 28, 1929 - May 7, 2021

Edna Louise Polston, daughter of the late William Hall and Sarah Bessie Elizabeth Polston was born July 28, 1929 in Glen Arm, Maryland, and departed this life on Friday, May 7th, 2021. Edna was educated in the Public Schools of Baltimore County. She met and married the love of her life, the late Elmer R. Miller, Sr. and from this union God blessed them with six children , Jean, Elmer., Jr. Steve, Phillip Sharon, and Martin. Edna was born into a strong christian family. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and was a life member of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church . She served faithfully for many years as a Steward Trustee, Usher and Chaplain of the music ministry. Edna was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society Lay Organization, Choir and Culinary Ministry. She was a powerful Prayer Warrior and one of the lead Intercessors on the weekly Prayer Ministry and truly enjoyed her position as “Mother” of the church. Mother Edna was a quiet proud woman and she did not hesitate to express her opinion about matters that were important to her. And was not too concerned about whether you agreed with her or not. Edna was always willing to listen and calmly evaluated the situation with her sweet quiet manner and shared her wisdom with you to develop a satisfying solution. Her spiritual leadership touched the lives of her family, church family, and everyone who met her. She had a unique sense of humor, she would often tell jokes to make you laugh and she would keep a straight face. Edna took pride I her appearance and was known to be a sharp dresser. She loved to cook and feed family and friends. The pride of her life was the achievements of her children. After her husband passed, she single handedly raised her six children who were able to attend college and pursue their careers. She was truly a loving, caring, devoted woman of God. Edna was preceded in death by her son Phillip Miller, Sisters Charlotte Cook, Alice Williams, Ellen Quickley and Elsie R. Cook, Brothers John Polston and James Polston. She leaves to cherish her memory – five children: Jean Bradley (Rufus-Zack), Elmer R. Miller, (Brenda), Steven Miller (Cassandra), Sharon Miller, Martin Miller. Nine Grandchildren: Michele (Willie), Tammy (Tony), Tonya (Carnell), Marsha, Christopher, Sean (Shanika), India (Edward), Philip Stanley. Eleven Great-Grandchildren; Rufus II, David Jr., Willie Jr., Brittany, Jeryan, Christopher, Tierria, Eddie Jr., Alexis, Evan, Ariana. Eight Great-Great-Grandchildren; Rufus III, Sylas, Tobias, Kayden, Laylah, Mckenzie, David III, Ava. Two sisters: Blanche Harvey and Betty Nolan. Two Sisters-in-law: Ruth Miller and Gertrude Miller. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God children, church family and friends.
