    Edna M Crowder

    August 5, 1923 - October 1, 2021

Edna Mae Void Crowder was born on August 5, 1923 in Orangeburg County, SC to the late Edward Void and Estelle Ravenell-Void. She was the eighth born of ten children. On October 1, 2021 Edna peacefully fell asleep in death at the Future Care-Sandtown Nursing Home in Baltimore, MD at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by three brothers: George, Willie and Eddie Void, six sisters: Leila Boyd, Lillie Bradley, Amy Fogle, Sarah Hamilton, Queen Esther Morant, and Louise Void, one granddaughter: Shonda Davis, one great grandson: Dimicco Luckey (Yum-Yum). In addition to a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Edna relocated to Baltimore where she met and married Andrew Crowder, who preceded her in death. Edna was blessed with three children, two daughters: Helen Connie Ross, Louise Void, one son: Anthony Payne who preceded her in death. Edna was employed at the former South Baltimore General Hospital in, the former May Company (Hecht Company). She would leave the workforce to help care for and nurture family members and friends. Edna was a dedicated care giver and live in nanny to several families. Her devotion to her family & friends and her belief in God gave her peace and satisfaction in her life. As a mature adult Edna made the ultimate step of baptism. She willingly gave her time and generous gifts of love to others. Edna loved to travel and she made friends where ever she went. She knew half if not all of the Baltimore transit drivers. Edna loved her family and she anxiously looked forward to attending the Void-Ravenell-Shuler family reunions. While you was in her presence you was her favorite. She truly took pride in her heritage and was always willing to share her knowledge of family history. She was the life of every party or event she attended. No grass grew under her feet. If there was music she was on the dance floor. She could talk to you without taking a breath. She thoroughly enjoyed life. A life very well lived. Edna was deeply loved by many and will be truly missed. To cherish her memory she leaves two daughters: Helen Connie Ross of Baltimore, MD; Louise Void of Vance, SC; grandchildren: Rhonda Conaway of Baltimore, MD; Brenda Johnson of Florida; Sabrina Johnson of Bronx, NY; Taronda Gillard of Vance, SC; Jimmecka McGraw of Alamba; nine great grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren and a host of caring nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
