Earl McKinley Logan

A precious one from us is gone . . . A voice we loved is still A place is vacant in our hearts . . . That never can be filled. Our beloved Earl McKinley Logan, the son of the late Corrine and Purcell Logan was born in Henrico County, Virginia on August 7, 1932. God called him and sent his angels to bring him home December 12, 2013. He attended the public schools of Henrico County. Earl married the love of his life, Rebecca Greene on June 30, 1963 and from that union two children were born. He was a faithful member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church and served on the Usher Ministry. Earl had a godly spirit and faithful love for the Lord. He believed that men should be righteous and true to thy self. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly from 1952 to 1956 and received an honorable discharge. He retired from Philip Morris USA after 27 years of dedicated service as a machine operator. Earl enjoyed his life traveling with his wife and running race cars in the tri-state area. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and provider for his family. He had an outstanding heart and loved to help whomever truly needed it. Earl was a giving person that never turned anyone away. His faith went beyond what words could express. He was a family man, a private person, a man of his word and always remained straight-forward in everything that he said. Earl was a friend to many, especially his two best friends, Rodney and Jimmie. Because of the wonderful love he shared, he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. We are so fortunate to have had him in our lives and we feel empty without him. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 55 years Rebecca “Fannie” Logan; five loving children, Cynthia Hooper, Karen Logan, Michael Bowman, two devoted, Cathy Garland (Jimmie) and Rodney Logan (Lisa); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Prentice and Clara Pugh; and brother, Stewart Logan; a host of other relatives and friends. Earl loved life and gave love to everyone around him. He will be greatly missed and we will never allow the light to flicker and continue to carry his torch to eternity.
