Dorothy Maude Daniel

Dorothy Maude Daniel was born at home on November 5, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland. Dorothy was the daughter of the late William David and Dorothy Lucille Boyd. Dorothy was the fourth of nine children. She was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. Dorothy met and married the love of her life, the late Gilbert 'Doc' Daniel of Trinidad and Tobago. Their union blessed them with one daughter, Crystal. Dorothy retired from the State of Maryland, Spring Grove Hospital in the early 90s. Dorothy was an active church member at the Mount Lebanon Baptist church located in Baltimore for over 40 years, where she served on various ministries. She several held important positions within her church, including current President of the Usher Board ministry, current President of the Pastor’s Aide ministry, past President and Vice President of the Missionary Board. She also was a member of the Security and Hospitality ministries. Dorothy also spent many years as a member of the Stadium committee that allowed her to volunteer at Oriole Park in Camden Yards, where she contributed to Mt. Lebanon's efforts to raise funds for church initiatives. Dorothy was a member of the Kings Landing Women’s Service Club whose mission is to fundraise for Camp Mohawk, an African American inner city youth camp. In recent years, Dorothy was a recipient of the Women’s Auxiliary, United Baptist Missionary Convention and Auxiliaries of the State of Maryland award. Dorothy was fiercely dedicated to her family. She often hosted family gatherings, which included her delicious coconut and chocolate cakes. Dorothy found great pleasure in embarking on annual road trips to church conventions with her girlfriends. In addition to that, Dorothy had a fondness for visiting casinos with her sisters, Joan and Bernice. Her most favorite activity was enjoying breakfast with her daughter every weekend. Shopping was another passion of hers, and she always made sure to dress impeccably. Dorothy departed this earth on November 1, 2023, days shy of her 80th birthday. Loved ones who proceed Dorothy in death are her husband, Gilbert O. Daniel, sisters Vivian Patterson and Nancy Riley, brothers William Boyd, Jr. and Earl Boyd, and brothers-in-law Jake Patterson, Johnnie Riley, Sr., and Prizgar Bruce. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Crystal S. Daniel, three sisters, Bernice McCoy, Joan Bruce and Jean Boyd. One brother Charles Boyd. One brother-in-law, Desmond Taitt, and a host of family and friends.
