Doris LaVerne Mason Mashore
July 10, 1949 - October 23, 2021
Legacy of Life Doris LaVerne Mashore, beloved daughter of the late Doris Gladys and Cornelius Aylett Mason was born on July 10, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia. Doris was educated in the Richmond Public Schools. She grew up in a Christian home with the nurturing of the Lord. Her parents instilled moral values and urged Doris to strive for the best that life had to offer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of South Richmond. She instilled in her children the true spiritual journey – church involvement, so much so, that her children are emerging to serve the Word and her only son became a minister. Her career led her to Bank of America as a Project Analyst for over thirty years of dedicated service. After a corporate conversion, she was recruited as a consultant. She later transitioned herself into a homemaker. She was not a fan of the kitchen, however, she loved for her family to bring her various types of meals and everything she desired. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading, watching television, listening to music, and spending time with her family. Doris affectionately was known to her family as “Momma” and to her grandchildren as “Nanna”. She was an amazing, mother, aunt, family member and friend, who would do anything to help you in any way. She was formally married to Leroy Mashore, Sr. now deceased. From that union three children were born. Doris enjoyed the warmth and happiness of being with her family and welcomed the opportunity to share in the joy of gatherings. Though she was a beautiful woman of few words, when she spoke, the wise seeds she sowed in the different soils of her children’s and grandchildren’s minds and hearts were with purposeful prayer to cultivate her family’s development and future growth. Doris was a very considerate and warm-hearted person who had a great impact on everyone she met. She had a heart of gold. She was truly a kind and giving person who made everyone feel special, loved, and appreciated. Doris will be remembered as a person who never denied giving a helping hand. She lived her life by loving her family through their failures and successes amid sacrificing herself to help them see their innate worth. Her presence and smile altered space and time for those she encountered. Many people adored her because without judgment she offered others her best even during her own weaknesses. Enjoyable was her smile and authentic was the essence of her being. We will miss our beloved mother.A mother who embedded foundational rectitude within her children, of which she exemplified, that led her children to God, who are ultimately changing their lives. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Ruby Turner; parents; two brothers, Alfonso, and Ronnie Mason; sister, Ruby Mason; grandchildren, Johnisha Stephens; Brooklyn R. Mashore and Pilar M. Mashore. On Saturday, October 23, she peacefully entered into eternal rest at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Doris proudly passes her legacy to her children and challenged them to set their goals high as she leaves fond and proud memories to her beloved son, Dr. Leroy Mashore, Jr. (Donna); two adored daughters, Taronda L. and Tanika V. Mashore; seven caring grandchildren, Tyesheia Stephens, Rashad Charles, Kayla N. and Tahjanique Q. Mashore-Jackson, Taemon L., DeQuan T., and loving caregiver Tah’jee S. Mashore; thirteen great-grandchildren; beloved sister, Karen Yolanda Brooks (Michael); beloved brother, Kenneth Mason; dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Her circle of friends was modest; however, friends dear in her heart were Juanita, K.P.,Kathy,Dot-T, and Gayle amongst others. May this beautiful, loving, and caring angel rest in the peace of heaven with her lineage. An adoring daughter of Jesus Christ, her eternal glow will always shine in our hearts.
